Lots of speed limits missing from roads in OMM3

Hello,

Has anyone else also noticed the ammount of roads not covered by speed lmits in OMM3 now. Nearly every road in our town (Hartlepool) and the surrounding towns where covered before the latest Beta. Now only the duel carriageways are covered, which is no use at all. We have 20,30,40 & 50mph limits within our town and some are where mobile speed camera's get set-up.

What has changed for Ovi to remove all these once existing speed limits. We are paying extra to receive saftey camera and speed warnings, but if 90% if the roads in our area are not covered, what is it like throughout the rest of the UK. Will these be added again or will our costs be reduced (MMMMmmm!).

I drive all over the Northeast ad yorkshire area's and am planning on a trip to Blackpool with the kids, but I know what the road are like up there for different limits on different sections of the roads and there are camera's all over.

Is everyone noticing this and could the maps team please inform us what is happening.

yes, in OM3 only main roads have speed limit.

Hi,

I dont think I'll be the only person wanting to know why OMM3 is only supporting speed limits on Major roads. We have lots of what we class as main roads in our town and others will be the same. If there is a speed limit warner in the software it should be for all roads, not just for roads the maps team think need them.

You had all roads in the previous beta, so please can we have them back in this version. If this is not just happening in the UK and major roads are working, I think this could be fixed by re-loading the maps again once ovi have replace the speed limits.

I have found it to be certain parts of certain major roads. I have has Speed Limit Warner working the driven across a junction and it has stopped.

Hmm.. Interesting, I live in Vilnius, Lithuania, and you know, all the little and small roads have their own speed limits, and OM3 shows me all of this stuff, so such a big country like UK should also have this fixed up, maybe something wrong with installation or your phone?

Re-installed way too many times already. To be honest the "Speed Limit Warner" coverage was about the same in the previous beta.

Hi Navio,

I have both 'Drive Europe' and 'Traffic & Saftey Europe' and still find most of the roads covered before now have the speed indicated in white and therefore it will not warn you either visually or verbally.

Today I have done around 60 miles and never had 1 verbal speed warning. I now think the person who posted in one of the other threads listing speed limits and the limit you get warned is correct. If this is the case the values are well out. To me I would be happy if it warned me 10% over the limit eg. 30mph (warned at 33mph), 50mph (warned at 55mph), but think it would be easier as others have mentioned about selecting the amount above limit to warn the person. In Settings add either a box to enter a value (say between 0mph & 20mph) or a box with a choice of 1,2,3,4,5,10,15,20 or 5%,10%,15% or 20%. As OMM3 must have a value associated with extra speed now within the software, so all that might be needed is the menu option to change the value.

It's just my thoughts about what other users have comment on in this forum to do with speed warnings.

I love the software, but at the moment I seem to be paying for a 'traffic & saftey license' that i'm hardly getting any value for. I am disabled and cannot afford to be paying extra licenses that only partly work. I was annoyed at losing nearly 3 weeks of a monthly license when updating the NM3 when introduced. I contacted nokia more than once and never heard why my NM2 license would not work in NM3 or the relevent number days added to my current license.

Sorry if this seems long winded, but was not sure how to word it.

@Ish: How's the Vodafone FW doing for you? I've stayed with the UK Unbranded FW as I am assuming that although the Vodafone FW has the same version number as the Unbrabded latest FW now I assume Vodafone will have done a degree of branding.

Drove back from holiday today and had Speed Limit Warner working on most roads and The sole Safety Camera showing on the map. The nice lady didn't seem to warn me of the speed limit until I was around 10mph over the limit.

Hope you enjoyed your jolly holidays.

I have had this install a few days now and it's never crashed at all (touch wood). The download is about 7Mb larger that the Nokia version, but it includes those little Vodafone extra's that are normally there, like ebay, Messenger and game demo's.

One thing I have noticed in that when you exit OMM3 it can take anywhere between 30sec's to 3 minutes to close. With the vodafone FW it takes between 2 and 5 seconds to close.

I think I'll have to say it was worth the wait (I know this dos'nt sound right), but it seems to be OK. The only main problem is they should have issued it months ago.

I still think if the police give you 10%, you should be able to choose anything between the actual speed and 15%, but 5%-10% would be best. After all if you get a warning 10mph over the limit, up here there are marked and un-marked cars all over the place and it 10mph above you will be pulled-over or sent a speeding fine which makes the warnings useless.

When I take the daughter to school on a morning I always see either a police speed trap of some kind or un-marked cars parked, just waiting (Yes I know the unmarked cars, because nearly all police vehicles in the area start with NX...Woops!!!!) and you can see them when passing.

Remember that the Safety Camera Warner only cover fixed Cameras. I am not aware of Maps showing any mobile camera locations. Just Gatso and traffic light cameras to the best of my knowledge.

I totally agree with mbrett with ragards to the camera locations. Both this and the earlier beta only covered fixed speed and traffic light camera's.

It might b a good idea to have the 3rd option in the menu's to cover mobile locations, which can have the same options as the others. This way people who dont want them can turn them off or to visuals only.

This could be nice, but people would have to accept that there will not be a speed camera at the identified locations most of the time when it comes to the mobile camera locations.

Hi,

I have done some basic checking, by driving all other our town and found only 2 roads where OMM3 shows the red/green speed indicator. Both are duel carraigeways (A Roads) and all the other roads in the town, including all what town people class as main roads just show a while speed indicator and as you will know, no warnings are given.

In the previous BETA I struggled to find a road that would not give a warning.

Why would the team take roads out of the speed warning information included within either OMM3 or Map Data. This was vital for drivers and needs to be repaired.

The only reason I can think, is thst OMM3 will work faster if there is less information for it to check (eg 1,000 roads instead of 10,000).

Also I was stuck in traffic for 25 minutes on Sunday because a section of the A19 near Peterlee was closed and OMM3 did not divert me, as it was not included in the traffic report received. How far behind is this information, as the A66 at Middlesbrough has had roadworks on for ober 4 months now (with the limit reduced from 50mph to 30 mph with speed checks by 2 camera's & police).

Who-ever is updating this information needs to be more updated and if it's councils/police not informing the update providers, then something needs to be done or a link on both OMM3 and maps.ovi.com to report roadworks/que's. This way traffic will flow better and more people might purchase the Traffic license, as at the moment is seems a waste of money.

Note: I am still not receiving speed warnings verbally, but if everyone is having to go more that 33% faster than the limit to get the warning like mbrett, what is the point of the warning, as even the police only allow 10% and thats now optional for each area.
