OM 3.0b works fine for me before updating phone software to the latest 400.34.011. After sw update OM cannot start asking me to get latest maps from nokia.com/maps, but... latest available on that page for my device is NokiaMaps 2.0... I've spend my time and traffic to download maps for 3.0 on my device; moreover, I've bought e51 to use with external GPS receiver for navigation purposes...
Hope this problem will be fixed shortly...
When you upgrade you FW with Maps 3 installed you can end up with a corrupted app as the FW update will try to install which ever version of apps are within no matter what is on yor phone. This is the same for all information on your phone. To rectify your problem you need to install an older version of Maps via a .sis file and then upgrade again. I realise this is frustrating but the issu has always been present when Firmware is changed.

For those of us who have installed Map 3.0, it is better not to have FW update because of this file corruption issue after such update. Is this a fair statement or have i misunderstood you?

Mbrett, sad but this was not helpful. I've tried to reset my phone to factory defaults, format memory card and then install Maps 2.0. Well, at least 2.0 works. Then I've updated to 3.0 via Maps Updater PC utility. After update, Maps start good but I've get blinking screen with quickly changed messages asking me to connect to network and to BT GPS receiver.
Yes, I've noticed that Maps version available for E51 on Nokia site is 2.0, but updater shows me that latest available is 3.0.
Thus, I still have the following question(s): is there any way to get Maps 3.0 working correctly on E51?
Did OVI have at least one QA specialist, or they think that all users will send them bug reports?
I noticed same thing. Updating Maps application through Nokia Ovi Suite(download and install it to PC) program get it working.
