Comment: mrsandeepnarayan: So, i would by Fonero for Discussion: Comparison of Nokia Maps with Google Maps

mrsandeepnarayan: So, i would say, Nokia has still a long way to go in terms of accuracy and quality of the maps.

Map data used by OVI Maps is from (Nokia owned company) Navteq. You could report map errors at http://mapreporter.navteq.com.

Making reports can be frustrating, if there are a lot of errors in the area where you move. Moreover it often takes months, even one or two years, before the correctons appear in the maps of OM.

Discussion: Comparison of Nokia Maps with Google Maps by mrsandeepnarayan

I am Nokia 5230 with OVI Maps 3.0 installed. I also have Google Maps installed on the same platform. Now, if we comapare them both, the visual appeal and usability of Nokia Maps is better because Google Maps does not support Free Voice Guidance. I like Nokia Maps but there are some fundamental issues. First of all, the OVI maps takes a very long time to connect to the satellite and get the current position. Google Maps is pretty fast here. Second, The Nokia Maps are quite lousy ( sorry to use the word here !!) as comapared to Google. Just compare the kind of Information google has and you will notice that Nokia has very few places. Another issue with Nokia maps is the acuracy of the maps which is the most vital thing if someone really want to rely on these maps to reach to some place. Few instances, i have seen that Nokia maps does not show the place accurately. For Ex - try searching 'Royal Orchid, allasandara, Bangalore' on google maps and nokia maps both. I have personally verified that the place is shown correctly in google maps but not in nokia maps. I was actually lost while i was trying to reach the place using Nokia navigator.
So, i would say, Nokia has still a long way to go in terms of accuracy and quality of the maps.

Discussion: Postcode search is........where? SR6 by Anonymous109772

Postcode search?? Can anyone tell me please where you get postcode search option? I've tried typing into "Search" field, but that returns nothing.
And why!!!! is T9 default in search field???
To be honest, I'm far from impressed with the UX. And I wonder what our consumers would say?
I'm using v3.06 10WK40b01 on a C7.
Thanks

Comment: Hey all,
Hope someone can by lovesranch56 for Bugreport: no sound

Hey all,
Hope someone can help with this. I've been searching high & low on all the forums and blogs that I can find to try and fix this. I just got a new Nokia e71x (AT&T) and installed Ovi Maps for all the US and the Voice files. I purchased a 1yr Navigation from Nokia and the turn by turn works but the sound for voice guidance seems to be muted. When i am close to a turn or destination, I can see a red box flashing like it's saying something and if I try to turn the volume up the bars are red. I know the e71x is not supposed to be supported for the free maps, I but found info here (http://janetalkstech.com/installing-nokia-maps-3-0-1-on-the-nokia-e71x) on how to install it. I am using the Nokia_Maps_3.0_0302_3.2_u.sis which is actually for the Nokia 6650.
Jane also had a link to here (this post by IKTUS) that another e71x owner (bobe71x) used to fix the sound on his phone but I tried it and it didn't work on mine. I have the latest firmware v3.28 on the phone and have tried to re-install the .sis file to no avail. There must be some code somewhere that AT&T put in to make it mute, or possibly the AT&T nav app is conflicting? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Suggestion (3+): In navigation mode, "Show whole route" button would be almost necessary by perttu81

When you navigate, there should be a choice of displaying the entire route, preferably in two-dimensional. This helps to check whether the navigator route proposal makes sense. Now the view is just a small snippet of the route, so I do not know is the route proposal proper. Using the - zoom button I can get the whole route in sight, but the navigator changes it quickly back to the default size, when the examination of the route in advance is almost impossible. Is there already a solution to this?

I would suggest that the navigation mode, there should be button "show route" even after I started navigating. It is almost essential to check the reasonableness of the route before I go driving.

In addition, the dashboard may not be selected, if not chosen a particular route. However, this is a necessary function in general.
