Application Specific GPS Connection Management

Suggestion for Ovi Maps 3.0 Beta for mobile

What I need and this could be either be built into apps like Maps and Sports Tracker or a separate application.

I use a BT GPS Module with Sports Tracker for the increased accuracy, but am happy to use the internal GPS chip with things like Maps. My problem is that if I do not select Yes to the BT connection request when I open the latest beta version of Maps I keep seeing the request until I select Yes.

What I need is to be able to select which applications use the BT GPS Module and which use the internal GPS chip.

At present I would be happy to have Maps permit me to say no to the BT connection request and use the internal GPS chip.

I agree with your second option, OMM has to permit use every kind of gps that are checked in the posiotioning settings, if the bt gps is not aviable for any reason (I forgot it at home or the battery is low, etc), OMM has to work.

About the first request, if I understood well is duplicate the positioning settings on every application.

The simplest method could actually be a stand alone Positioning method handling/management app, but just having this ability in Maps would be an excellent start.

Just switchen on BT in the phone settings for positioning and OM3 goes crazy when it starts up! Flicking between "Select device" and "Connet now"... I had to press the red button to close the app down.

I normally have BT GPS switched on, but it's obviously de-selected after I reset the phone. Interestingly though, ST has been connecting to the BT GPS even though it's not selected in the phone options. So, mbrett, try swithing the option off and seeing if ST still connects to it?

I have the same problem than jonnymaserati. When I switch BT in the phone settings, Ovi Maps 3 becomes crazy and starts flicking and the only way to stop is closing application. When I had the previous version I dindh`t have that problem.
