If the POI are not included with the maps, I agree

The impression I always got is that there are more 'Online' POI's than are with the maps as downloaded by default.
Nokia do not provide additional POIs other than those downloaded with the map data. It is possible for users to create additional POIs and other map manufacturers may provide other POIs, but Nokia do not provide additional downloadable POIs for maps.
The abillity to have a user inputable shared database of additional POIs would be nice though, although this would need policing of some kind.

Hi,
I know what others mean. I picked a booklet up in my local Tesco showing where all their stores are, but in the booklet it has a web address to download a file containing all tesco stores (POI) for satnav's
We go all over in our car with the kids and always end-up looking for a shop and tesco seem to be everywhere, so this would be a great add-on.
This would be great not just for me, but for people who go hiking, caravaning or camping.

@ish68: You should be able to import POIs already.
Can you let me know where the file is and I'll give it a try.
I must warn you that in previous versions at least, and I expect it to be no different in this latest version, Maps start-up time can be greatly increased based on the number of imported user created POIs. POIs can be imported in LMX file format. This has been posted about before.

I can confirm 100% that there are more (allot more) POI online than there is in the base map. So suggestion still stands.
Hi mbrett,
The link to the tesco stores is below:
http://www.tesco.com/storelocator/satnav_download/
It gives 3 different satnav makes, I guess these might be slightly different formats.
I'll be honest, I did'nt know you could add POI and I'll have to find out how.
I still like this version, as it has less bugs, but hopefully the speed and camera problems will be sorted soon.
Thanks

Hello mbrett,
I was just wondering if the above satnav files where compatable with OMM3 and if so how to add them. The way the file looks in wordpad, I could delete what I would not use and add the rest.
Thanks for looking into this for me.

the day before yesterday i found no connection to the server - but i had needed a route to the next hospital. With a minimum of offline pois (doctors, hospitals, pharmacy, police) i should have find the next hospital very very faster.

I beleive you just need to get the lmx file on you phone and open it in the file manager. The Landmarks application should then find the landmark data form the lmx file. Working from memory, so hopefully this is correct. Struggling with food poisoning so brain not working a full speed.

the POI of police, hospitals and pharmacies are under the main POI "business and Services".
I think that the emergency POIs have to have its own main POI and not hidden in "business and Services"..
