Firstly well done to the team - great work on the new release!
Secondly some suggestions:
1) the biggest problem with mapping on small screen devices (like my 5800XM, and that's one of the larger ones in the Nokia stable) is lack of screen real estate. That gets worse when there is also user interface clutter scattered all over the map. Therefore there NEEDS to be a full screen mode where nothing is shown but the map (and position/route, if applicable), ideally with some way to quickly toggle their visibility (eg. double tap in top right corner of screen).
2) though it's better than the previous version, it's still too easy to accidentally zoom in or out when you're really trying to scroll. This would be partly solved by 1).
3) why can't the satellite images be downloaded as part of the actual map data? Sometimes they are just as important for navigating, especially if you're a cyclist/walker that's trying to find usable paths through parks, etc which are rarely shown on the actual maps.
4) or at least provide a way to download the images at all resolutions for the currently shown map area from the device itself, and keep them.
5) the map application is one thing that would really benefit from gestures. For example, instead of having zoom buttons that are too easily pressed by mistake, thumbing a circle to zoom in (clockwise) or out (anticlockwise) would imho be far better,
6) I know everyone says this, but the maps are still too out of date in my area (northern suburbs of Perth, Australia). There are whole developments and major road sections which have appeared since the maps were apparently last updated.
Just my $0.02!
