If I go to any of the subcategories within Favorites (eg Places, Routes, ...), there is no "back" button to go back to the main Favorites screen. I have to go all the way back to the main menu and return to Favorites from there.

Using version 3.03(54) on 5800XM. Synced a fair number of places from Ovi.
When I open Maps the GPS status icon is lit, so presumably the receivier is active.
However, when I go to Favourites > Places, it distance to each place is measured from the posiiton where I was when I closed Maps. This does not change as long as I stay in Places. If I after several minutes peek at my location using Menu > My location, my location is shown correctly and when I go back to Places, the distances are shown measured from the current location.
This is very confusing, since when entering Places, the shown locations are sorted in an order irrelevant to the location where I know myself to be. My first impression was that they are simply randomly incorrect... Please recalculate distances and list order based on the current known position. If not using the known current position as the origin is intentional, at least make it consistent by using the set home location as the origin: this will enable the user to figure out quickly that the distances are not incorrect: if you set home location as "A", and it is the first item in the list with a distance of "0 m", the reason is rather obvious.
Another element of useability destroyed by the illogical menu structure. I am staying at a hotel, which I have stored in favourities. I can show on the map, but not search any surroundings. Going to search option takes me back to my current / last location, so need to search for the hotel again. If breaking up the functionality in sub-apps, at least pass the current status between screens.
If you want to add a routepoint, you can only from standard POI's and not choose from map og favorites.
If I well understood you problem, it could be solved in this way
1) you show on the map your favourite.
2) touch "menu"
3) touch "search"
4) in the search box you can insert the Poi category, for example "hotel"
I know, it is not fast.

when i had the version 12****** i can see satelites in the option so some day i went to my garden with nokia n97.he had 3 satelites in medium with clear sky . and im just waiting an nothig.some times i need gps and dont get possition.in the help sys that 3 satelites sometimes i have 5 and we dont connect
so i update my phone to 20**** and ovi maps beta and stell the same problem . NOKIA YOU MUST CREAT A VERSION THAT BE MORE FAST TO CONNECT SATELITES. THE ONLY DIFERENCE I SEE IN THE 20 IS THAT NOW I CAN NOT SEE SATELITES. PLEASE FIX THIS
About the satellites status, with the FW 20 it is visible only after the fix, for me it was better in the previous FWs.

I am using N97 v2.0 with Ovi Maps.
I have sent some lmx files from my PC to the phone with have their own category, ie Geocaches and an id of 9876. On Nokia Maps 2.0 send it bia Bluetooth made these immediately available and visible on the map, however since upgrading to N97 v2.0 and testing with Ovi Maps 3.01 these only became visible after adding a collection called "Geocaches", however on Beta i have to go to the Landmark application and effectively change the icon of the category before it become available in Beta Maps, but the icon used is just a star just like every other landmark I have which should be a hand shake for friends etc etc etc and you cant change the icon in Beta Maps
To rename a collection isn't possible

For Maps 3, when I transfer a landmark to a .lmx file, it does not store
1) The icon of the landmark (!)
2) The coordinates are truncated so precision is lost when I import it back (when transferred with the Landmarks application it is fine though, this happens only with transferring through Favorites inside Maps)
Previously, I could mark all landmarks in the Landmarks application and send to another device. However, now I cannot do the same with the Favorites menu (which I assume is an attempt to integrate landmarks into Map 3, since the landmarks application was not updated to remove categories and recognize new icons).
I have about 80 landmarks, and I am experiencing an additional 15 seconds for Maps 3 to startup when compared to no landmarks (!)
With Maps 2, I had colored icons for my landmarks - which tremendously helped me to orient myself to the map. Now all landmarks are black! Colored landmarks will be really appreciated.
Alternatively, if I could set the zoom level at which the landmarks will be displayed, that will also be good. That way I can set some important landmarks to be shown at a higher zoom level, and the others will be visible only when I zoom in. (Another advantage of this strategy is that all the landmarks no longer need to be shown at high zoom levels - will this help in cutting the startup time with numerous landmarks?)
I'm not sure if its a bug, when I save my route on OVI maps (Internet Browser) and later when I synchronize on mobile. The routes multiplies the KM/Miles 3-4 times. Like, if a planned route is of 15 KMs, than after synchronizing over phone it becomes more than 60KMs and on maps it shows and ask to drive down all around instead of one simple straight route.
Please advice!
Is there any way to sync the favourites from my home computer (OVI suite) to the favourites on my 5230? I find it far quicker to search and catergorise them on a bigger screen. It appears there is a way to sync everything but maps using Ovi suite. I dont want to use my data quota on my phone for stuff like this.
