Battery Drain

Discussion for Ovi Maps Beta for mobile (v3.03)

I have recently upgraded my preinstalled maps version to the beta version on my 5800 XM and am noticing a huge difference in the battery life while using GPS. Earlier I could use GPS for several hours and just a bar or two would get knocked off my battery indicator. With the new maps however, my fully charged phone gets totally drained in about 2-3 hours.

I am sure it cant be a battery problem since my phone is only 4 months old. Is anyone else facing this problem? Can anything be done to fix it?

Such a huge amount of battery drain just completely beats the purpose of a mobile GPS. I got stuck without a GPS and without a phone :(

Hi if you don't mind why don't you try to use only GSM on the Networks and turn off wifi as well. Also Bluetooth that only if you don't use the head sets. It only an idea but help you isolate the issues.

Hi..thanks for the suggestion but my wifi and bluetooth is always switched off. In fact, I dont even go online, i use GPS is offline mode only.

Any other suggestions? Or am I the only one with this problem? C'mon Nokia guys... im facing a serious problem here...

How's you backlight set?

I found if I set Settings->Navigation->Backlight to "System default" the screen backlight goes off automatically saving battery.
