Location>landmarks: pick landmark >options >show route (wait at menu screen function whilst main mapping app starts)> show route> (wait for calculation)>options>simulate:start.

This defaults to a drive simulation and will take you on a journey to your desired landmark.

Location>landmarks: pick landmark >options >show route (wait at menu screen function whilst main mapping app starts)>settings : decide on either walk or drive>show route>(wait for calculation)>options>simulate:start.

You can get to this inside Maps if you are in a route you can select to simulate route.

Start Maps and go to favourites. If you select a route from here you can simulate it. I'm sure I worked out a way to simulate a newly generated rout too, but I'll have to come back to that later.
