I installed the latest Ovi Maps Beta today and I like its new look and feel a lot. In my opinion, Nokia is on the right track here.

Unfortunately, I cannot find some of the features that were most important to me in the 3.01 I used before:

a) Quick control over whether to be in online or in offline mode. It was under "Options->Extras->Go Online" before. Although it is possible to control the online/offline status via the settings, this is quite cumbersome.

b) Quick control over whether to enable the GPS receiver or not. I do not know what the English option for this was called but in my German version of Maps 3.01 it was "Optionen->Extras->Standortbestimmung ein-/aussch"

I would love to see the control over the power consumption and the data traffic restored. This was something that I considered to be a big Pro over the competitor Google Maps.

Another small thing:

c) I would like to get back to the last map view I had open before I opened the menu. The only options I am left with from there are "My position" or "Find places". But I would like to see the map where I left it (maybe to disable the GPRS/UMTS connection after downloading a chunk of map data). Maybe there even is a shortcut or key I need to press to get back to the last view, but whatever it is I cannot find it.
