I think it would be useful if you could have a button to rotate the screen, and also be able to rotate the screen in any direction. For example if your going on a long drive, and you need to charge the phone while driving and the naviation is on, its not always good for the charger to be at the bottom of the screen, and if this could be turned around so the charger is at the top it would be much better.
Thanks for your suggestion! It would be useful on devices without acceleration sensor but the N97 supports auto rotation, enable it in Menu > Settings > Phone > Sensor settings > Turning control > Auto-rotate display and Ovi Maps (even Nokia Maps 2.0) will use it.
That the phone cannot be turned upside down in landscape is a operating system limitation, has nothing to do with Ovi Maps.
The point I am making is, the auto rotate, works for landscape and portrate, but when in landscape, the charger is to the bottom of the phone, so it would be good to be able to have a setting to turn this the other way round.
I personally don't like the auto rotation on the N97, its far too slow, and only works right maybe 60% of the time. But if the application itself could be set up in the settings to be which ever way round you want it to be, this would be of great benfit.
But for maps, which is better in landscape mode, it would be better if there was a setting to make it work upside down, so my phone can charge while I use the maps service.

I use a Nokia CR-39 & HH-12 Pack ( http://shop.nokia.co.uk/nokia-uk/searchresults.aspx?selector_session=ACM...) and have it set so that the phone is in landscape with the charger cable going downward to the 12V car socket. Works for me.

Hi.
I would need that "button" or app too because I also dislike the auto-rotation feature and for me it would be useful to click no a shortcut to rotate the display.
Maybe I'll write such an app... but I would like to have it implemented into symbian.
