Maps function was set with A-GPS active etc. No other apps active.
Location>landmarks: pick landmark >options >show on map.
Goes to Map start up menu screen, than after a very long time, after I thought there had been an app hang and was about to restart, the landmark was shown on the map.
I suspect that the menu function has a separate startup to the main mapping function to give the impression of a speedy start to the app. An external call could be dealt with through a straight to map with calculating message which would give a less worrying impression.
