Getting a picture of the day

Coat or light jacket? Cycle to work? Take an umbrella?

Mornings can be rushed and the last thing you want is to waste time looking for the weather forecast. Enter our new Weather app. Designed to be simple yet beautiful, this app helps you prepare for the day: current weather and temperature as well as expected forecasts.

Planning for the coming days      

 Picnic on Saturday? Beach on Sunday? After-work BBQ tomorrow or the day after?

No matter if you’re planning a big get-together or just want to know what the weather will be like this week, Weather is here to help. The app provides a forecast for the next five days including rainfall and highs/lows.

 

New installation UI

In this release of Maps 3.08, we have implemented a new installation mechanism which differs from previous Maps releases. Instead of releasing all maps components to you in one large monolithic sis file, we are releasing only a small installer program.  It downloads the updated Maps software packages and needed enablers from our servers and installs them on your device. This means that your device must have a working internet connection to be able to run the installer and install Maps 3.08 Beta. The benefit is that the installer will download and install only those software packages that really are needed for your device.

Oh, and after you finish installing, please launch Maps first and accept the Terms & Conditions. This will make life easier.

Installation issues

If you experience installation issues, please could you send us your installation logfile (please attach the file) which is located on your device. The logfile will be located in either:

c:\data\ovismartinstallerlog.txt or c:\ovismartinstallerlog.txt (on your device, not your PC).

Please email this file to: feedback-ovimaps@nokia.com with the subject: Nokia Maps v3.08 Installation issues. Also it would help a lot if you could tell us more about your phone. The first six items on Device updates would be great (press *#0000# on your keypad to get there).

Known issues

  • Check-in logins are not saved after installing SR8 on top of SR4 and SR6 maps
  • If you are using Own Voice with maps, you might get a request to update your voice guidance. To continue using Own Voice, please decline the update request.
  • Drive navigation doesn't start in 3D mode
  • Distances of favourite places are wrong.
  • The rain background image in the Weather app is not always shown, even though the cloud below the timeline indicates rain.
  • The ad banners shown in the Weather app are fake. 

Live Traffic Routing

Currently, the new feature where Traffic information is taken into account when calculating routes is available in:

  • Germany
  • UK
  • USA
  • France
  • Russia

All your feedback is reviewed by the Maps team and analysed for trends that are most important to improving the user experience of the solution.

Want to go back to 3.06?

If you would like to go back to 3.06 version, you will first need to un-install these applications from the Application Manager then re-install 3.06.

First, un-install these from the Application Manager:

(Helpful Hint: Unistallation process is faster if you uninstall “Ovi Maps” and “Ovi Maps ODML” first.)

Next, re-install 3.06 from Ovi Store.
