As far as I can tell, on my particular setup, this is the only bug I've found with the new v2.05.
@mbrett first reported this in his review on a n95 and it appears to be universal.
I tried switching from "Sound" and "Sound with Backlight". Laps always record but no sound detectable, with or without headphones.

Quick check. Have you tried going through a lap marker with Sports Tracker in active mode (phone not in standby, keys not locked, backlight on, etc). At this point I heard the NST lap sound on mine. It would be nice to verify this on your set-up too. I was running auto lock after 10 seconds and sound only for the lap indicator, but had just opened my phone, which took NST out of lock and into active mode.

Sounds good, I'll give it a go over lunch.

Okay, for the record I have my phone profile set to "General" with the sound all the way up for all choices. NST v1.78 produced lap tones in any profile, however v2.05 apparently requires the General profile to be chosen for lap sounds to be audible.
I start SportsTracker v2.05 and edit the General Settings to reflect my preferences of "Sound" for Autolap signal and "Disabled" for Use automatic keylock.
I begin a new workout selecting "On each 500m mark" of the Autolap option. No target, route, replay or live sharing. I press OK to begin my workout.
I immediately hear a tone and popup transparency notifying that a GPS signal is fixed.
I start the workout and press "Lap", hear a tone and see a popup transparency with the lap summary. I repeat this manual lap option several times with the same result. Everything is working fine to this point.
At 500m within the workout, rather 500m past the last manual lap point, I hear a tone and see a summary popup. Everything appears to be working fine with the aforementioned settings.
-edit- After another workout later in the day...
Now I have performed a 5km run with Autolaps set to occur at each 1km. However, no tones were detected throughout my run.
I continued to run and watched my phone's screen as I passed another lap, now I get a tone.
Here's what's happening: The phone has a setting called, "Power saver time-out". Mine is set through Settings>Phone>Display>Power saver time-out and was set at one (1) minute.
When the phone's power saver kicks in, the SportsTracker app now goes to the background and no lap tones are heard.
If you set your power saver to max, mine is 30 min, then you will hear the lap tones.
The problem with this solution for me is, I typically do runs of over 30 minutes.

Other notes: I do not have the "Use automatic keylock" enabled, I never do. With my phone I find it too difficult to perform dexterous activities, presently with gloved hands, at 12km/hr.

Ouch, thanks for pointing out this annoyance. Our power save mode was a bit too efficient and we basically saved extra drop of battery juice by silencing lap beep.
This is now fixed and waiting for release.
Meanwhile, power saving can be disabled in workout view from options -->power save mode --> off.
BR, NST dudes
Thanks, NST Dudes and WELCOME!!!!

Cheers guys.
Proved the same on my 18k run last night. Thought it was something to do with the phones low power mode (ie screensaver and then dark screen).

Basically, this bug is fixed. However, the beep is very low now. Before the issue appeared, I could hear the sound very loud and clear, even if my E71 was in a trouser pocket. With the current version, I have to hold the phone in my hand all the time while running to have a chance to hear it. But even so often I miss it. Has anybody observed this too?
In version 2.06 the beep is linked to the Profile volume.

Thanks for your fast reply. I created a new profile with maximal volume. Unfortunately, the beep is as low as before. I tried another "silent" (low volume, does only a beep instead of a ring tone) profile as well to compare the volume. The beep has the same volume. Do I have to change another or different setting?
I could have sworn I noticed a difference based on profile volume.
i'll have to check again.

Hi, the sound used by Sports Tracker seems to be the same as the one used by the E71 when selecting a different profile. If I select a different profile, the phone will make a beep to confirm the change. This beep has always the same volume, independent from the set volume. Perhaps this hint helps somehow.
