Plus, my current version (v 1.75) finds a newer one when it connects (v 1.77) but it always fails to download it (Downloading update failed).

I am using version 1.82 from Nokia Research Centre (http://research.nokia.com/research/projects/SportsTracker/index.html). This is the latest available version for S60 3.1 devices. You can download and install directly to you phone if you point your phone web browser at the link below (It will automatically replace the version presently installed on your phone).
