I have nearly the same problem. After ~3 minutes Sports Tracker stops recording - GPS is connected and satelites are found. All other GPS applications like Nokia Maps or Navigator are working without any problem.
I'm using E65 with LD-3W
I'm using the same setup as you dingolein and have the same problems. I started getting the problems when I updated my phone fw to version 4.0.633.74.00.
I however found a work-around to the problem; if you start the "tracking" och the "second page" i.e. the one that shown Avg speed, speed, altitude, distance and time the program works perfectly.
Are you using the latest version of Sports Tracker? It is 1.82 (test version). See below.
You can downlaod a newer version from Nokia Research Centre (http://research.nokia.com/research/projects/SportsTracker/index.html) which shows maps within Sports Tracker.
Nokia S60 3.1 devices: N82, N95, E71 etc. (v1.82, 02-10-2008) - http://research.nokia.com/files/SportsTracker_31_v182.sisx
Nokia S60 3.2 devices: N79, N85 (v1.82, 02-10-2008) - http://research.nokia.com/files/SportsTracker_32_v182.sisx
1) Fixed a problem with GPS sometimes turning off in the middle of exercise.
2) Small improvements here and there.
3) v1.82 is only available in English. Italian and Spanish are underway.
4) NEW: we're testing map background! Whoa, cool! This test build has a gray scale map behind the track plot instead of a blank background. We're testing Navteq content with over the air (OTA) download, application does NOT use any preloaded content from Nokia Maps. Memory card is required for using this feature. We also highly recommend having a fixed data plan. In order to be able to see maps, you need to pair your device with http://sportstracker.nokia.com web service (this can be done directly from the phone).
This is a test version, so all feedback is warmly welcomed. Let us know what you think
My SportsTracker version is 1.78 as the 1.82 is not available for the E65 (S60 3.0). I would be really happy if Nokia could come out with that version of Sports tracker for S60 3.0 (but I guess this is a way for Nokia to get you to buy a new phone).
I have the same problem (with the same phone). Selecting Settings/Access Point -> none seems to improve the situation. Probably, the software run into problem when Access point is selected but the network is not available.
I have also notices that when uploading to the service it searches for media files and finds them but does not upload them (or ask to be uploaded).
Will version 1.82 work on the phone?
V1.82 only available to download for s60v3.1 and s60v3.2 devices.
I would like to know if the problem is related to the sportstracker or to an issue in the E65 Firmware.
Also, V. 1.78 has been beta state for more than 1 year now - It's time to fix the well known bugs and release a final version!
I cannot believe that Nokia, such a big company, is producing such unmaintained software. At the end, it makes the costumers unhappy and there is nothing worse than a costumer which is not buying the brand anymore because of bad experince.
kind regards
