Sportstracker website shows wrongs data

Forgive me if this has been posted (I have searched and can't find it!) but does anyone else get different speeds after uploading a GPX file to sportstracker.nokia.com?

I use the sportstracker app on my Nokia 5800 and think it is fantastic. However, whenever I upload a track to the website (after exporting as GPX) the max speeds are totally different.

For example, on my Nokia 5800, the max speed I reached when skiing was 50mph but after uploading it to the website I reached around 150mph. A also did some tracks whilst driving which sensibly showed I was travelling at 70mph but showed as 180mph on the website!

Just wondered whether it is just me that is receiving the bug?

Have you tried uploading the traks OTA, as a comparison?

Just want to verify that this is specifically a GPX import erro that you are witnessing.

Have you tried importing the GPX file into Google Mapds or something to see if everything looks OK there?

Yeah, uploading OTA seems to work ok. It's just when exporting the route as a GPX and then importing it manually.

I also have another service I used to use (motionbased.com)...this again shows different figues to the Sportstracker app (and website).

It seems as though the GPX "export" from the phone app doesn't contain sufficient information to be consistently analysed by an external tool...?

What do you have the filtering set to in the mobile app?

You could try setting the filtering to high if it not already set.

I've never changed this setting as I was never entirely sure what it does...I've just checked and it's already set to 'high'.

Would this affect the export of the GPX then (given that OTA works fine but the GPX doesn't)?

The other assumption I am beginning to make is that it's only me that's having this export/import issue as there are no other posters.... intriguing!

You could try turning the filtering off and see how this changes your results.

My experience is that GPS filtering OFF gives the best results for running workouts. Then you get the most details because off more recorded GPS points.

I've created a track with Filtering turned off but that actually seemed to make it worse!

The website speeds differ greatly from those recorded and it has me doing a maximum of 196mph on the way home in my car!

Surely it can't be something I am doing wrong *paranoid*?

@bluefoxtoo: Sorry can't think of any thing else to suggest.

Only thing I cann think is to return to HIGH filtering and hope that the development team will create a fix fo this problem.

You could see if this is of any use in the interim.
