Sports tracker stopping, what to do?

Hello,

First of all, I have been trying to look through the forum for the answer to my question, but couldn't find anything.

I love the NST, I've just started using it a few days ago. Only one problem: It seems to stop tracking all the time. Let me explain:
I start walking, and after a min or two I look at the display and see that I've walked for 0.22 km. The next time I look i've still only walked 0.22 km, and my speed is fixed at x km/h and doesn't change even if I stop. And there seems to be nothing wrong with my GPS signal, since it's been green both times I checked.

Anyone else have this problem? If so, should I just wait, and it will start again? Because right now I just have to restart it and start a new route, resulting in quite a loss of distance.

Last time I walked around 3 km I guess, but only got 2.2 km because the NST stopped 5 times.

Hi there,

What version of Sports Tracker are you using? I ask because this was a problem with older builds of the program. If you have updated to v2.06 and are still losing the track mid-workout, then you may be the first user to report this. v1.78 had this problem show up anytime you performed a workout with your selected access point as anything but "none". v1.82 saw a fix for this and v2.06 (current build) hasn't seen this bug reported.

Another possibility can be found in your settings concerning the "Auto pause" feature. This is a feature which will automatically pause the app when you slow past a pre-set value. Setting for this can be found in "Activities". I set mine to "2km/hr" when I'm running so the app stops whenever I have to wait for a traffic light.

Finally, when NST has Power saver enabled, a workout can appear frozen when the phone switches to standby mode (default for most handsets is 1 minute). If you wake the phone from the standby screen, the NST app will resume displaying current stats with no loss of data.

Share your handset details (model, firmware, etc) as well as your NST version number.

Well... ofcourse you are right, I never updated and got the 2.06 version, so I had the 1.78 :/ I haven't tried it yet, but I guess that was the reason. If not, I'll post again :)

fyi- Updating from v1.78 to v2.06 has been problematic for some users.

I have the same problem as NikkiSWE. I have version 2.05 on my Nokia E71 with software version 110.07.127
My NST settings are: access point: none - memory in use: memory card 4gb - check for updates: yes - measurments unit: metric - map material: phone - wprkput backlight: automatic - autolap signal: sound 5and backlight - use automatic keylock: after sec. - GPS filtering: high - altitude offset: 75 m. . I experienced the problem in walking and cycling.
My settings for walking are: show speed: speed km/h - autopause: less than 1.0 km/h - speed averaging: average of last 1 min.
My settings for cycling are: show speed: speed km/h - autopause: less than 1.0 km/h - speed averaging: average of last 1 min.
The programm stops and doesn't start up again. I even have to restart my phone sometimes.

I was getting the same (it only seemed to happen when I set it to 'Walk' though) and it was really frustrating as I wanted to track a walk though Petra in Jordan.

It wasn't until a couple of weeks back that I noticed there was an update (I changed the access point to GPRS and was informed there was an update available)... not had any problems yet but haven't tried logging a walk yet (only runs and drives).

When I go running the distance suddenly stops changing as though I have lost the GPS fix but it is fine. The timer and everything else keeps going thus resulting in an incorrect speed.

I have the latest v2.06 and a Nokia 6220c on Orange in the UK.

- The most frustrating thing is not being able to manually edit the distance I ran, afterwards on my PC.

I would be interested to hear of any solutions you guys may know.

That's hardly a solution but more of a work around.
I have the same problem, from time to time, N81, fw ver.21.xxx, NST 2.06, GPS BT Wintec WBT100.
If i see a frozen workout screen (usually, it's not frozen entirely - the time keeps running making my avarege speed low) I swith off the bT on both phone (O have BTSwitch installed), and GPS unit and after about five seconds, turn it back on on both devices. The NST re-acquires the signal, updates the pisition and usually makes up for the lost distance.
But you can see how miserably lame it is to perform such a procedure mid-workout.
Nokia Labs, an update would be great!
