I just got the word from the top that an update is already in the works to be released with days, addressing a number of problems you may have been experiencing.
Amongst the repairs, v2.06 will add Step Counter back in.

This would make me happy if it included support for E66, but alas I am not hopefull. E66 support for Step Counter was promiced for last Christmas, but that promice was withdrawn and nothing has been said after that.
I wonder if Sports Tracker and Step Counter teams are the same or two sets of people not talking to each other...
