The only way I can find to put way point where I want it to manually create the route. When doing this, on a windy route you end up with too many waypoints, so it would be good to be able to put some points that don't act as waypoints when the metrics are reported.

I hope you get a chance to read through all the existing threads. Often times new subjects are created with subjects previously discussed, "Route editing" included.

Within the popup box when entering a new "Suggestion" there are tips on how and what to include for most effectiveness. I'll copy them below:
Tips for writing a valuable improvement suggestion
Make sure no-one has suggested this before! If it exists, continue that thread rather than starting a new one.
Pay extra attention to an informative headline! Use it to describe your suggestion, be brief but cover all relevant aspects.
Describe how and why your suggestion would improve the product and why this is important.
We need to understand the improvement suggestions fully and this is sometimes difficult without knowing the purpose for which the product is used.
