I think that the code on sports tracker web page...
altitude should show
Altitude overall example 1000 m
Altitude climb only example 350 m
Altitude drop only example 650 m
something like that...
my english sucks so I hope you know what I mean?
Maticnik is exactly right - altitude is essential for me, and I would love to see ST with more detailed information on various altitude splits as set out above.
I have noticed that you have an altitude 'map', which is also useful but numbers are more precise and very useful.

This would be a good idea as long as everyone is happy to accept the reduced accuracy inherent in GPS calculated Altittude based on a single GPS receiver.

Where the technology stands today, especially using the inbuilt GPS chipset, we wont be able to count on good altitude recordings for our workouts using SportsTracker.
External analytic software can improve the logged GPX files when converging elevation data supplied by services such as the USGS. Of course, this only works for terrestrial travel in locations where data is supplied, but that covers all of EU and the USA.
SportTracks for PC and TrackRunner for Mac both offer this useful feature. When chosen, the program clamps your route to the ground, throws away the old altitude data, replacing with known elevation statistics, giving you clean elevation profiles.
