It's a real pain having to hold down funct + desired key to zoom in/out or select media item. Can't NST be made to act on press of "T" key the same as it does for "2" (same goes for all other combined number/alpha keys)?

After nearly three years with my former E61, now on a N79AE, the last week has been a rough transition away from QWERTY. Initially, I am missing the old familiar keyboard and have all but forgotten how to use predictive text. It's slowly coming back to me. :-)
In my transition, I've felt that NST was easier with QWERTY overall. But again, two years of NST only a QWERTY will do that I suppose.
@gooseye, Do you have some isuggestions on how NST might re-arrange keystrokes to be simpler for you? How about the commands seen in Nokia Maps, for example, "?" keys for zoom in/out?

Alternative zoom keys/pan keys would be ideal. Holding the function key whilst jogging or cycling is tricky.
E71 with NST2.06
I would second the use of * and # for zooming in and out (like Nokia Maps and a number of other apps). Maybe panning could just be done on the directional key (like maps and other software). A single key press could take you in and out of map pan and zoom mode without having to go into the options menu.

I've found that a double tap on function key will toggle the keypad entry mode to numeric - do that once & u are good to go for one-handed operation, so not such a big issue after all. But would be better for NST to set this, or simply respond to key presses rtyfghvbnmju in the same way as to 1234567890#*
Another vote for not using 2/4/6/8 for panning - we have the compass keys for that, no need to duplicate! 2/4/6 would then be available again for browsing/selecting media items.... much less confusing!
Lastly, I discovered the 7 key toggles data-point display. Useful to be able to judge your speed (uphills/downhills on bicycle), as the maps themselves convey no hint of elevation - they are totally "flat"
I just found that the double-tap-function-key -> numlock works on my E71 fw 210.21.006, but not my trusty old E61 3.0633.09.04. I still need to hold two keys down on the E61 to control NST (both using 2.06)!
