I am just getting back into fitness and not exactly what you call a fitness guru. I came across something called Tabata sprints where you sprint for 20 secs, stop for 10 and repeat that 7 times.

There a number of other training methods as well. I am not sure how these could be implemented but I guess some kind of extensible module framework could be developed which people can then share online.
