When Swype went from Beta to Release, please note that not all languages were included.

Only the four build-in languages (English, Spanish, French(CA), Portuguese(BR)) and eight (now nine) additional languages (Bulgarian, Danish, Swedish, Polish, Italian, Hebrew, Norwegian and Finnish - and now also Icelandic) were initially released.

I've been told that a total of 30 languages should be in the pipeline, awaiting signing at the OviStore/Nokia end.

If you are using a S60v5 device, and need any of the above, then please note that there is a bug in the OviStore registration of these, see here for a workaround:

I think it is very unfortunate that the Beta is timing out before languages are released, not merely for small languages, but for huge and large ones like Russian and German.

I would STRONGLY recommend, that the old (beta-)version working with these languages are prolonged, until the languages are released!
To only make it available for non released languages, a 'filter' could be added. It could be prolonged a month at the time.

For S^3 you need to use the OLD build (link below)

For S60v5 you can:
EITHER use the release build 16481 (store.ovi.com) and one of the files now removed from this forum.
OR if language is not available use the OLD (link below)

Here are beta language for the released 16481 for S60v5 (and timed out beta for S^3) that has previously been available:

There is an OLD build (also beta) v1.0.12936 for S60v5 here:

I can confirm that it STILL works. (But be sure to select ENGLISH as writing language before install, you can change later)

There is an old build 13559 allegedly for E7, that is S^3 (link courtesy of rohkein) here

It has been confirmed to be working (see postings below)
(Downloads as "swype.sisx", To avoid version confusion, rename it to its full name:
"Swype_0x200333FD_v1_0_13559_NAM_128004.sisx" )

The one of the above suitable for your device, can be used as a workaround until the real language packs are released.

I've tried to gather some links for (what I hope is) corresponding old language packs. Please report back if these are working or not, and please tell if you know of other languages so I can keep this list updated.

As an example: For Dutch, I've searched for "SwypeDutchDictionary", if it is followed by a time stamp of 2010 or January 2011, it is sure to be one of the old ones. Try with the language you need.

I've tested the Dutch and the Arabic with build 12936 on N97Mini, and they are working! :-D
Abadonna has tested build 13559 on C6-01 with Russian. It's working too. :-D
And Peeyay01 build 13559 with the Dutch. :-D
Also tested release build 16481 with Turkish. It's working too. :-D
I've tested both new and old Indonesian, it doesn't seem to work, but it MIGHT be merely incompatible with my phones firmware??? ;-(

Since, I got my N8 I'm waiting for a dutch language, looking every week, but still no dutch language, I hope I can try it before I get my other phone Nokia E7, or maybe, acer or trying HTC.

As an owner of a Nokia N8 I was a “first adopter” of Swype.
I have always been satisfied of the (beta) version(s) of Swype on my Nokia N8.
In my opinion (Flemish (Dutch)) user, the keyboard layout of the first beta version was better than the second.
At this moment, Swype is at version 2.0 but there are missing “some” language packs.
So for a lot of people Swype become unusable.
I’m not against progression (evolution) of programs but .... for me the evolution of Swype
on my Nokia N8 (Symbian^3) is equal to regression, let’s say back to zero.
I understand that “they” cannot support all languages from the first time, but why supreme a working version (make it unavailable) and replacing it by a newer (better ????) version that is not working (in my language) for me and a lot of other people. (without any notice about this regression)
I would like to reinstall a beta version(first or second) of “Swype brought to you by Nokia” but I don’t have those installers any more.
So where can I download one of those former versions of Swype.
I still have the following Dutch language packs available for those former version.

Sorry … but I didn’t noticed the “download button” on the link of the installer of swype (build 13559).
Swype is working again (build 13559 for S^3 + Dutch language pack = reconfirmed)
and the first keyboard layout (bigger buttons) that I preferred.
I think I will stay with this version ....
