Whether you explore a city on foot, hit the road driving, plan a trip, or just want to get the best out of a new destination, Ovi Maps is always at your fingertips on your mobile and PC or Mac.

With Ovi Maps, you can easily find your current location, places nearby, and addresses you are looking for, and save all your favourite places. Get to your destination safe and sound with Drive and Walk, real-time car and pedestrian navigation. If you preload the map data on your compatible Nokia device with Map Loader, you can also use all these features and services offline.

Online you can check out the weather forecasts and events around you. Explore premium travel content by Lonely Planet and Michelin for over 1000 destinations, and find thousands of listings for sights, restaurants, hotels, shops, nightlife, and more.

What is different from the previous release?

• Improved application start up
• Brand new menu with one touch access to content and services
• New and improved one-box search
• New features in car navigation service: ‘Drive home’ and ‘Track me’,
• New features in the pedestrian navigation service: ‘Walk home’ and ‘Track me’,
• Text-to-speech for voice guidance in car and pedestrian navigation, currently available for English and German. More languages will follow for the commercial release.
• Features currently not supported in this release:
  • English only for the application language:
  • Other languages will follow in the commercial release
  • No satellite and terrain maps (only in Walk mode)
  • Traffic updates options are only manual or timed, e.g. Every 5, 10, 20, 40 minutes.

With Ovi Maps^Beta, you have many ways to explore. Select from the following:

• My position - Find your current location easier and faster.
• Find places - Find places and addresses easily with one-box search.
• Favourites - Save your favourite places and routes. Sign in to your Ovi account, and synchronise all you personal favourites with maps.ovi.com.
• Drive* - Use car navigation with voice and visual instructions, lane assistance, and speed limit warners. The new text-to-speech^# feature for voice guidance speaks the street names during the navigation.
• Walk** - Use pedestrian navigation with routing through pedestrian zones and shortcuts, stairways, plazas, and pathways through parks and buildings. Now voice guidance speaks the street names during the navigation.
• Weather - Get real-time weather information including a 5 day forecast for your current or any location found with the help of the Find places functionality.
• Michelin and Lonely Planet - Get dynamic access to premium editorial travel content for over 1000 destinations. Find thousands of listings for sights, restaurants, hotels, shops, nightlife, and more. Look these places up on the map, and get there with pedestrian and car navigation.
• Events - Check out the events on the map around your location or other places you have found with the help of the Find places functionality.

To enable text-to-speech for voice guidance in car and pedestrian navigation, select Ovi Maps^Beta and the settings icon > Navigation > Voice guidance > English female (UK) - with street names or German female - with street names.

Minor update to Ovi Maps^Beta for mobile
We have done a few minor updates to fix a couple of crashes in the application and slight improvements to the functionality/layout of the Premium services.

Make sure you have the latest version of PC Suite or Ovi Suite installed. Download the above sis file, and install it to your device.

Mac users: Download the above sis file, and copy it to your compatible Nokia device. Locate the sis file using File mgr., and run from device.
 

Map Loader

To preload the map data and voice guidance files for navigation to your device, download the Map Loader application for your PC or Mac.

If you have previously used Maps 2.0 or older, your map data is not compatible with Ovi Maps^Beta. Therefore, you receive a warning about the map data removal during installation. You can download the latest map data with Map Loader application for your PC or Mac or over-the-air (data transfer costs may apply).

Updating your City explorer / Drive licences

Check if your device already has a City explorer or Drive licence activated. If you already have the licences, you are good to go!
Select Ovi Maps^Beta and Account > Shop & licenses > My licenses to see which licences you already have.

Select Ovi Maps^Beta and Account > Shop & licenses > Enter license code, and follow the displayed instructions.

How to purchase a City explorer, Drive, or Traffic & safety licence in Ovi Maps^Beta
To purchase a City explorer licence for pedestrian navigation, select Ovi Maps^Beta and Account > Shop & licenses > Options > Shop for other regions > All regions and the desired licence.
To purchase a Drive or Traffic & safety licence, select Ovi Maps^Beta and Account > Shop & licenses > Shop and the desired licence.  

Downgrading / removal

To uninstall Ovi Maps^Beta, in the menu of your device, select Settings > Application mgr. > Installed apps. > Nokia Maps > Options > Uninstall. Your Ovi Maps application is downgraded to the ROM (original firmware) version. To get the latest commercial release, use the Maps Updater application.

Known issues

"Not enough memory to install"

Ovi Maps takes around 7 MBs of your compatible Nokia device’s memory (on the C Drive). The Symbian installer requires approximately twice the size of this application during installation. If you receive the notification “Not enough memory to install”, try and clear your disc cache. Select Web > Options > Clear Privacy Data > All or try to uninstall some applications from your Nokia Device C Drive.
