Nseries PC Suite 2.0 beta survey

nseries_pc_suite_survey.PNG

Nseries PC Suite 2.0 beta is currently our most popular Beta Labs application, measured by the web traffic or by the number of downloads*. Now, we'd love to hear your thoughts.

If you have tried the application already, please go and fill in our Nseries PC Suite beta survey. If not, try the application first, and come back later to fill in the survey.

The survey shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to fill. And it would be extremely valuable for our Nseries PC Suite team and for Nokia's future PC software development.

Many thanks in advance!!

* = some people have complained about sluggish download speeds from Nseries PC Suite web installer. Sorry about it. The team is currently investigating the situation, hope to get faster download speeds soon...

Great! Have been waiting for PC Suite look-and-feel to get in line with other standalone apps, but never expected this! Very sleek.

I had the latest version of PCS 6.4 installed and was uncertain if it should be uninstalled first. Ended up uninstalling PCS 6.4 after installing PCSN.

Settings are not saved & PCSN does not load at startup. The tray icon is nowhere to be seen either.

Nokia photos cause an error during sync. Think it might be a phone issue though - have to restart my phone everytime.

Expected a "Repair" option in the included add-ons, but found that you can only uninstall completely, without warning. This caused an unwanted uninstall of Nokia Software Installer, which I can't seem to find as a seperate download anywhere. The Webinstaller reports "no updates found", so I'm now just living without it for the moment. Guess a complete uninstall & reinstall would solve the issue, but unfortunately live in a country with data caps & VERY expensive data costs.

Looking forward to the next update!

No need to apologize, Louw. We collect feedback in multiple ways, and I the team will read your comments to this blog too. The survey is just a more systematic way to collect feedback, as it organizes the comments into a more actionable format for us.

Any chance of making it work in Linux? I'd love to be able to manage my contacts, SMS, media and filesystem on my Ubuntu box at home.

Can download the web installer but that then does not work through a proxy server so its impossible for me to download it. The idea of a web installer is great if it would pass through the proxy. Even an option to do a complete download would help.

I dearly miss the ability to type text messages on my pc using the new PC Suite application. With the older versions I could still do that. Am I missing something or is it not possible?

Chalk me up as another one who needs to be able to install it from behind a proxy. It's great so far on my home PC, and I'll be leaving feedback based on my tests there, but I can't install it here at work.

Hey there. My N95 crashed the same day I did a full Content Copier backup using the Nseries PC Suite Content Copier. (I mistakenly thought there was new firmware for the US model.)

After Call+3+* resetting the phone, I ran a Content Copier restore, which did nothing. No contacts, no calendars, no bookmarks or web feeds, nothing except the access points for the device from what I can tell (it's put me in the position of having duplicate protected APs for Devicescape which I can't delete).

At no time during backup or restore did the application say it was unsuccessful in any way.

Really, this is a complete trainwreck for this software. The only reason I got anything back on this phone was thanks to iSync on my Mac at home.

i have an N73 and i was happy using the earlier Nseries PCSuite, everyone knows that the pop port cable can be a headache at times and i was really happy being able to sync my phone over bluetooth.. but now that i've upgraded to the beta version i can not connect through bluetooth anymore.. i looked through the help and found out that Widcomm v5.0 is supported but i'm using Widcomm v5.1 on Windows Vista... wat to do now??

okay... there was no problem with bluetooth... i forgot to remove the connectivity drivers before installing the new PC Suite.. it has to be removed completely before installlation of the beta PC Suite.. but i had to revert back to the old PC Suite as the beta one [especially Nokia Photos] still requires massive amounts of RAM and is slow.. i'm on Vista with 1GB ram..

Warning to N770/800/810 users:

When you click on the Compatibility node on the download page, it says "All Nokia Nseries devices".

You'll download a big package and have a nice long install of several apps you've been hoping to use with your Internet Tablet.

But once you connect your device and try to use the suite, you'll become very saddened, learning that it in fact is NOT supported... :(

(The final kick in the pants happens if you uninstall the suite while your tablet is connected: you'll get a message specifically indicating that you need to disconnect your Nokia device so the uninstall can finish - so it DOES know it's there, it just can't do anything for you!)

Nokia dudes/dude-ettes:

1) Please update the download page so that other poor tablet users don't get disappointed like I did - I didn't learn about the incompatibility issue until I saw the answer in an FAQ somewhere else.

2) Are there plans to make this suite compatible with the Internet Tablets at any point? We badly need some sort of basic sync/networking/PIM capability, like it seems to deliver to the other N-Series guys.,,

Hi Tommy -

Almost!

I saw the updated info here:

http://www.nokia.com/betalabs/nseriespcsuite

However, the misleading info is still at the link that tripped me up over here:

http://www.nokia.com/betalabs/applications

Nonetheless, it's great to see that you guys are reading our feedback and acting quickly - thanks!
