Minor update for Download! for PC

download_for_pc.PNG

Quick note: we just made a minor update to Download! for PC:

  • a couple of annoying bugs fixed
  • support all standard S60 languages added (hence the 4 installation packages for different regions)

Overview of the app:

Download! for PC enables you to discover mobile content using a PC. When you connect your mobile device to the PC, Download! for PC automatically synchronises with the corresponding software on your device. This makes it easy for you to find, download and manage content that is compatible with your device.

  1. When this comes out of beta, will it replace the existing Download application on my N95, because as it stands now I have an icon for the one that came with the v20 firmware on the root menu and now one the beta in my Applications folder.

  2. Thanks for making it actually show all the content.

Big hate for breaking and still not fixing the catalog to work with the Download app included in the phone. “Catalog update failed - File not found”, gee, thanks a lot!

This new version is so slow it’s practically useless. The version in the phone updates all content within seconds while this new version takes minutes, and after the long long wait it doesn’t even remember all items when scrolling through the list and more wait to see the items.

Fortunately there’s not really anything worth the trouble to download through this app.

  5. On my N95 is installs fine.
On my XP PC, PC Suite 6.84, I get the message “A newer version of Nokia Download! was found. Download now?”. If I select yes, it start downloading, and at the very end it says “There was a problem with internet connection”. If I select no, it says “There was a problem with internet connection”, even though I told it not to download anything. And my Internet connection is fine.

  7. When I run Nokia Download! (2.0.19.0) it advises that there is a new version of the PC client (2.1.11.0). When I try to run this after downloading it I get the error message:
‘Some installation files are corrupt’ and the winrar console shows:
    Extracting Nokia Download!.msi
    CRC failed in Nokia Download!.msi

  16. What the heck are you still talking about?

Nokia doesn’t offer/support the app anymore, as it has been graduated as browser based solution: http://www.download.nokia.com.

  17. Why include it in the PC Suite if it’s not supported anymore?
