Nokia survey about PC software

Nokia is collecting feedback about our PC software, including the normal PC Suite and Nseries PC Suite. They asked me to promote the survey here, as they have noticed Beta Labs readers to have really valuable things to say.

Help us create better PC software: link to survey.

Nokia PCSuite is the perfect example of what should not be made ! it's big, slow, ugly, undocumented, there is no log, no help, no support, it's unstable, there is a lot of drivers and services started for a so poor result ! I had this advice 10 years ago when I got my 6310i and I have the same opinion now with my E65 !
Synch with Outlook is full of bugs, incredible when one knows that Nokia has bought Intellisync and doesn't use it

I am praying that Nseries PC Suite team do not blow their chance to show everybody how to do a proper Call Centre/Messaging Centre combo. Then Nseries PC Suite is bound to be a winner.

Is there anyone to help me for my questions on N95. I am typing my contact details to the contacts facility in PC suit, then give an update so that it should update the details to phone.

But it is not happening

when ever i open the PC suit contact in PC, all the things are up to date. But in Phone it is not there.

What should i do

I've been trying Nokia Conversation in my N73 and I'd like to give some feedback about it.
When I respond to a message inside Coversation then I can see my message in the usual Sent Messages view, but the message appears to be sent to a phone number instead of the contact's name. It's not mapping the mobile number with contact's name.

Thanks!

Thanks for posting this link.

I have completed the survey but I’m sure you’ll get many thousands of responses. So there is one issue that I consider very important which I wanted to raise here, in the hopes that someone from Nokia may be able to address my concern.

I’m totally blind, and use screen reading software for Symbian to make my phone accessible. With this software, I’m able to SMS, do e-mail…in fact use just about all the features of the phone.

However, PC Suite has had accessibility issues with windows-based screen readers which appear to have become worse over the years.

6.85 is pretty much now impossible for me to use independently. Firstly, the installation process does not use a standard installer. In probably about 99% of cases, I’m able to install Windows software by tabbing to the next, cancel buttons etc, and making my selections. The buttons are standard Windows controls and have text labels. Actually, I installed the latest beta of PCPhone yesterday, and what a pleasant experience to install and use it is. The install was perfectly accessible, as was the application. How I wish PC Suite was the same. As it is, I have to get sighted assistance even to install PC Suite.

Then using the applications themselves are very difficult. Text is written to the screen in such a way that most of the time, the screen reader cannot read it at all. There are know standard buttons that allow you, for example, to tab around and hear the names of the buttons. There is know standard Windows menu bar. In short, I’ve got my sync set up from a previous release, but basically that’s pretty much all I can do with it now.

If I want, for example, to check for a firmware update, back up my phone etc, then I’m just out of luck in terms of doing it myself.

ActiveSync is a very pleasant and accessible user experience by contrast.

I really hope Nokia will treat these issues with some urgency, as I don’t think they are hard to fix and fixes can be made without damaging the aesthetics of the application.

It would be great if you could take into account all of us mac users when making the innovative stuff for the nokia N82 and such like...we are a creative bunch and would really appreciate getting these beta apps first (or ever at all really)
