Gizmo updated: search added

Gizmo, the app for doing free* Internet calls and instant messaging, was just updated to 1.1.006. In my opinion, the most interesting new feature is the ability to search for Gizmo contacts - so that you finally have someone to talk with :-)

Download here.

* = free, as in “use with WLAN or flat-fee data plan, or be prepared for huge data traffic charges - especially when abroad (you have heard the stories)”

  3. I’ve installed this gizmo on my e51, theoretically it looks great and feels like its a revolution so i also bought call out credit, but practically it connect to the service but want let me call out. all i get is a message saying that the number i have dialed cannot be recognized, meaning that all is nice and pretty but the gizmo servers are failing. then i try to contact gizmo, and all i get is radio silence, no response and no one is picking the phone, i found no one to refund me for my credit, not to mention just talk to me.
if something is not going to change then its clear that skype has no competition at all.

  4. HI all, i’ve been able to use the gizmo app on my mobile at selected places. However it’s a really troubling situation when you cannot register with the servers at some wi fi areas. I wonder if this bug could’ve been removed and handled in a much intricate manner. I bought E51 primarily because i could get in touch with people using wi fi but it has all turned out to be a bad dream. If gizmo login can work on fring application, why doesn’t it get through using the nokia native voip client.

I enjoy the fact that all the call log and call menus are maintained from within nokia’s built in menus; however the system is all so unpredictable.

I hope that you guys at betalabs will also be able to find a solution to this precariousness in gizmo logins and server registration processes.

Thanks, i hope this message will be paid heed to resolve the issue that is making so many people loose temper at their devices ;-)
