We just updated Nokia PC Phone, the (surprisingly?) most popular Beta Labs app of the month, to version 1.2. 2078. As you can see from the release notes, this third public release was mostly about bug fixes.

Thanks to your feedback, Nokia PC Phone is getting increasingly mature. Go try it!!
When sorting by date with text messages, the only way it sorts is in ascending order, with no ability to sort in descending order to have the most recent texts show first.
Any ideas?
I think this is a promising product, however it has several flaws that must be addressed soon.
1. Installation is a bit hit and miss. It took me several attempts to get the little Tray app working.
2. You don't get notified of incoming SMS messages.
3. The browser messages don't update nor does pushing F5 force it to reload them.
4. No routing of sound across bluetooth. I honestly thought I'd be able to route the audio input/output through my PC and thus leave me mobile sat on the windowsil - where it gets good signal.
This last request is obviously a v.big feature but I can't see how this program is any use without it. I can send SMS messages via skype (and replies come to my phone). I can edit/add new contacts in the Windows Address Book and then Sync with my phone. I don't see the ability to answer a call remotely as a very useful feature when I then have to actually go pick up the device anyway.
Like I said, promising, but a bit to go yet before I would use it regularly.
Best of luck!
The demo was cool, it made me think "why isn't someone building the exact same thing to put onto the internet tablets?"
just a thought.
I'm still waiting for a version that will run on my operating system 64 bit x64. The developers have said that this is in the pipeline, but have not offered any date.
The fact that the lack of compatibility with 64 bit operating systems is not even mentioned in the "Issues" list for this release is not at all reassuring - it's also timewasting for those of us who then go back to check in the forlorn hope that this update would include 64 bit support.
This looks like a great app, and it's exceedingly frustrating to read all the excitement about it, without being able, with a mainstream operating system, to make use of it.
So in summary:
1. Please prioritise the development of a 64 bit version of this app, and please signal this by providing a date by which you will complete this. Commitment with no date is of limited value.
2. In the meantime. please provide more through information in your release notes - specifically acknowledging the current ongoing lack of an XP 64 bit version.
So has anyone figured out how to stop IE7 from prompting you about the ActiveX? I've tried everything the Help file says and a few other things but I still get PC Phone prompted by IE saying IE has "restricted this site from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer."
That includes dropping all security settings to Low (all back to default or higher now though).
Absolutely great product. It is much easier use phone via this.
If you just could make more stable. It crashes several times per day. It has also some connection problems. Sometimes "web" page says: not connected (using Firefox) and pc phone says connected. Connection takes also long time and sometimes it just looses it.
Tested with E70 and E50.
@ John,
IE has “restricted this site from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer.” this is really annoying me also, i hope they post a fix for this annoyance soon?
Hi,I have just installed this software in my computer.Iam using Nokia N73ME V4.0736.3.2.1.Iam able to successfully connect my phone and read and send messages, but, I am unable to make calls through the PC.When i press call key ,there is no response.I am also unable to see the call list.I have connected my phone through the data cable.
Pls help me.Thanks in advance.
Arun Gopinath.
doesnt work for me, a part of the installation already crashes (i think the 2005 distributable. And the program itself can never connect (bluethooth) my hard disk seems to constantly do something. But the tray icon is telling me that it is connection to my E90 but it will never connect.
But now i read that 64 bit systems are not supported or not working and i am on Vista 64bit
Just installed PC Phone and send the multiple receiptent message (4 persons). The msg was sent successfully and I had a reply within 5 mins.
HOWEVER, the "text message log" in pc phone was NOT updated with the msg details and the log on the phone only shows the phone number and not the contact name.
I also send a single msg and it also did not update the log and on the conatct number shows in the phone log.
The incoming msg was shown correctly.
How about a plugin for Opera, my preferred browser.
Great sw, very easy to use.
Nokia 6120c v04.21 and firefox v7.0.0.12 and Vista Home Premium OS.
Software is working, but there is not synchro with anything. Like Contacts... I dont have anyone in contacts...
It's a piece of crap...
it's trash.. alot of bugs..
So buggy I would say it's quite generous calling it beta...alpha more like. Connection via bluetooth will usually drop after a short time and then nothing short of rebooting and praying will get it to reconnect again. even though the other nokia applications have no trouble connecting. Also when I expand the view to read a txt the text is all crushed up in a thin column on the left. Also choosing contacts to send to doesn't work most of the time.
I'm running xp sp2 with bluesoleil drivers (5.0.5.178), and a nokia n82. also firefox v2.0.0.12
To see how to do a text app properly, get hold of a sony ericcson phone and check out the freeware app called float. It does pretty much everything seamlessly including incoming and outgoing messages and file transfers, snyn etc, and wiuth a much smaller footprint than any of the deformed nokia bloatware. I used to love that software...now I got a nokia again the phone's better but the software's worse. anyway, good luck fixing this one.
Can I leasten audio on my computer?
Great soft i like it very much, and I dream from a lot of more posibilities :d
Like calling or answering call by using COmputer speakers and mic :d so I could let my Cellular in my desk and answer my phone calls
COntinu like this, and I will still buy Nokia stuff
it is a great idea.I cannot make calls with e50.Please help me!
