  1. This off topic: what’s the matter with MOSH? Lately every single mobipocket file that I try to upload are being refused as mis-categorized. I change category from document to application to graphic file - in vain. And “Russel” seems to have a handful since my queries are left unanswered…
    cheers,

  4. I am still waiting for such a nokia app for the e65! please make share online avaiable for the e-series :-)!

  5. Some told me the previous beta’s didn’t had the feature to add your own Atom-providers anymore. Since I wrote a small PHP library to act as Atom-server for Nokia Share Online v2.0 (see my site) this would really be a pitty if I couldn’t use it anymore. I also read that it’s not possible to uninstall v3.0, once installed, so I won’t try it before I know this beta does add the possibility to add your own providers (other than Flickr and Vox).

Can someone shed some light on this?

  6. Is there any way to revert to an older version ? I dont like the ugly new icons this added to my standby screen.

    Comment by Cj — January 26, 2008 @ 6:01 am

  7. I installed it on my n95 from the s60 browser. I cant seem to find flickr anywhere. Only vox shows up in the list even after repeated attempts.

  10. @Randy
use a config file like the one for flickr
    http://www.flickr.com/services/atom/config/nokia/nseries/flickr_configuration_file.cfg
you can change the relevant fields then transfer the file to you phone i.e. using bluetooth and open it. This will add the service to the online share application. I tried it and uoploaded a photo to your demo blog :-)

    Comment by soly zed — January 27, 2008 @ 2:19 am

  11. @Zed: Ah, nice to know it works in v3.0 :) However, I’ve played before with those .cfg-files. Indeed, it’s much easier than entering all the details manualy. But in v2.0 it had a serious drawback: I couldn’t remote the services anymore, after adding them using a .cfg-file! Hopefully this is fixed now!

  12. On my N73 i wasn’t able to remove Share Online 3.0 after i updated from 1.0 - i tried uninstalling all the entries in app. manager but nothing happened (except that more space is available).

however, i like the new version much more but i hate turning my phone all the time :)

    Comment by an3k — January 27, 2008 @ 11:53 am

  13. @Randy: i was able to delete services in 3.0 (tried it with VOX but i think the mobile doesn’t know whats a custom provider so it should work with your own too ;)

    Comment by an3k — January 27, 2008 @ 12:01 pm

  14. @Randy
I removed your demo service after uploading the photo, so this should work for you too!

I had copied the setting of flickr and still dont have the new features like recent photos and all.. instead it opens up new a web browser window. I can only Post new photos using New Post option.. Please guide me to get these features back. I like the previous v3.0 features

  21. I am beginning to wish I hadn’t installed this update, the active standby plugin annoys me too.
At the very least you should have warned users it was a new feature, and given an on/off setting.
The only way it appears to get rid of it is to format your phone

    Comment by Ratkat — January 31, 2008 @ 2:24 pm

  22. Installed Share Online 3.0 on my N95. Was able to set up Vox with no problem. Flickr on the other hand, I am not able to add my Flickr account. I get a System Error 100 when I try to activate the account.

    What should I do?

    Comment by Cosmin — January 31, 2008 @ 2:53 pm

  23. Cosmin - I got the same thing. To fix all I did was re-install and it worked. I read somewhere we were supposed to remove share 2.0 first which I didnt do which may have caused the problem.

  26. Share Online 3.0 does not seem to work through any Vodafone UK APN. After installing, I kept getting an invalid username/password. I was then asked if I wanted to log in via the web browser, but this would simply ask me to link Share Online 3.0 to my Flickr account again.

I thought the app was broken, but found out last night it works perfectly fine via my WiFi browser. What’s curious is that I never had a problem with Share Online 2.0. My guess is that Share Online 3.0 access Flickr by some other protocol or port that is blocked by the Vodafone UK network

    Comment by Rob — February 3, 2008 @ 1:32 pm

  27. i just tried this using the vodafone uk internet access point, it started uploading the 950kb image, just fine, however when it hadn’t completed after a few minutes i checked the connection manager to find it had uploaded over 6mb of data and was still going. I stopped it. Something weird going on with so3 as you said so2 worked perfectly.

  35. I like the direction this new app is going but. I HATE THE GAY STANDBY ICONS!!!! I agree there should at least be a warning that this is permanent or offer a way to disable it(the easiest and best solution) I do not want to format my phone just becuase of this. Please nokia release a new version with a way to disable than everybody would be happy.

    Comment by threezero — February 14, 2008 @ 5:34 am

  36. the best solution is to make 3 options for the standby thingy

    1. Off
    2. On
    3. Only on new content

i think that would make us all happy.
the bigger problem for me is that i can’t see Ovi service :(
already try to update the service list, reinstall share 3, download it again, install it again.
only thing that i don’t try is reset my n82 and update to share 3

    Comment by luxus — February 14, 2008 @ 12:56 pm

  37. I have Nokia N95 with latest firmware (v.20…). I just tried Share Online 2.0, which comes preinstalled with this firmware. Couldn’t log in to Flickr (I know, you need to use that Nokia specific password - still no luck).
Then I updated to Share Online 3.0, as suggested in some web comments. Also downloaded new Flickr configuration file. Now there is no possibility to manually enter login information for Flickr in Share Online application, and the first login via Web browser (the Yahoo login screen) simply does not work in my phone - it always immediately gives weird error -26000 in the browser!
I gave up with Flickr and I tried Vox. Login worked and everything seemed fine, except that when uploading photos, just about when reaching 100%, I get an error “Could not read”. No photos appeared in Vox. Right.
Finally I wanted to test Nokia’s own OVI. After succesfully registering at the website, I found out that it is not available in Finland - although it is available in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Island, Estonia… yeah, you get the picture.

Pretty bad user experience with this app.

    Comment by trk — February 14, 2008 @ 6:17 pm

  38. n73 user here.

can we please make an option for real 1-click upload, like in shozu. we can add tags and descriptions later, right?

snap a photo. be asked if we would like to “upload photo”

    click yes or no.

    now that would be sweet.

  48. I cannot work out how to remove this program (the final version). It would be really nice if that was possible without a complete firmware reset!

    Comment by Tom Page — March 9, 2008 @ 1:30 pm

  49. I am seriously pissed off i installed this.
Firstly since the install my whole phone runs 90% slower and my Images & video gallery crashes, and also Open
Online Service on the menu so i cant send to vox or flickr !!!
    THIS IS SERIOUSLY TERRIBLE.

    Comment by User — April 8, 2008 @ 8:49 pm

  50. I am also still waiting for the e90 version. I see the point of marketing the n-series different to the e-series. BUT who carries two phones with him and gets the n-series JUST for blogging?! That is a bit ridiculous.

Please release it for your flagship phone at least unofficially (just disable the e90 non-installation lock).

    Comment by lukas — July 16, 2008 @ 1:56 pm

  51. Seriously I wish there was an easier way to remove this program. The standby icons are very annoying.

    Comment by Kevin — July 17, 2008 @ 2:23 am

  52. 1. The standby icons should be optional. Guys, you jsut messed up with the main screen of our phones. that’s what we see every time we hold our device and want to use it. Have you ever wanted redecorated your living room without notice? seriously, fix this or you lose users. and beta testers.

    2. What about custom RSS / Atom feeds? What about blogger, wordpress, facebook? I know this are commercial / strategic decisions, but I’d really like to use this software if connects also to services that I already use.
