PC Phone archived: we learned a lot, and decided not productize this as standalone application

Quick note: Nokia PC Phone has been archived from Beta Labs, and it's not available for download anymore.

I found the concept truly promising - and based on our survey, quite a many of you liked it too. At the end of the day, however, it was decided that we will not productize this as a standalone application. In any case, I consider the beta trial as a success case: we learned a lot, and now we can seek to incorporate the best parts to other Nokia offering. Thanks everyone for your input!!

The PC Phone team promised to post a proper wrap-up later...

I just upgraded to FF3 and went to download this app again... this is hugely dissapointing news! Especially all the troubles with the PC suite, I found the browser program highly stabe and easily integrated across all machines in my household.

Bring back this product! Please!!!

Well - the app seemed to be a great idea, hopefully it will be integrated into PC suite - or picked up again sometime...

This is maybe too early to launch this app - but in 1-3 years it will/should be part of every advanced phone...

Despite the unstable nature of it, it was extremely helpful to me. I relied heavily on the popup call and text notifications as well as the ability to react to them the same dialog. Please integrate this into Nokia PC Suite ASAP!

So how about making it open source then? From Ari Jaaksi's amusing comments on the concept I guess I shouldn't hold my breath.

I have been using pc phone for sosme time now and just arrived here to check for new version. planned to implement this for more than 800 users in my company. I find it hard to understand why Nokia decided to discontinue development. I hope they have some kind of "plan B" for integrating phone with PC.

This is really a surprise. Nokia PC Phone is a good application.
Is this going to be integrated into PC Suite somehow?

I loved the ability to make a call from my browser and used it a lot (ok, alot when the program didn't crash :-)

I do hope you bring some of it back in some form

Could you perhaps be persuaded into publishing the source code?
I reckon the final target of using the PC's headset instead of the Nokia's speaker very appealing.

Thx!
Omer.
