Nokia Chat updated: mostly bug fixes (+ Maemo OS2008 version)

Hey Everybody,
It's been a while since our last update to Nokia Chat. That's just because we've been intensely working on further development steps. During the past month, we've been really focused in going through your feedback and running user pilots to learn even more about what should we improve and how.. Out from all of this we've got a lot of great insight from you all to plan forwards. Kudos for that!
As a quick iteration based on the feedback received, we've got a yet another fix package to release for fixing some of the mishaps you may have encountered while using our S60 clients. Note, that both the support package and the chat app has been upgraded - both need to be installed for the upgrading to work properly.
These fixes include things like auto-reconnecting when connection is disconnected, some memory management issues and lots of other smallish errors.
Oh, almost forgot, we've got a small but handy tool to for you in case you're using the new Maemo OS2008 (that means, you've got yourself one of those fancy Internet Tablets with the latest software). Installing the downloadable package distributed here enables you to create and configure your Nokia Account from the Chat application. It's an enjoyable experience to chat with N810 - I promise!
That's it for now, stay tuned for more updates later.
BR, Kristian

All of the screenshots I have seen show 4 contacts on the screen in list view. My N75 shows only 3 with wasted space beneath each contact, present update included. Screen resolutions are the same @ 240x320. Any idea how I can reclaim this wasted space? Screenshot can be provided upon request.
I was able to download and install on my N95 8Gb without any problem. When I try to establish an account, it asks for my mobile number. I keep getting an error that says I need the number in "International Format". What's that. I used normal international format (country code then area code in the US then the seven digit number in the US)
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
Maemo love, sweet! But where is the package, did I miss something?
Ignore that last one, it was there right after the other devices. I would highlight it a bit more, and maybe mention the product names instead of OS: Nokia N800 & Nokia N810.
I've found that it is very difficult to notice that I have an incoming chat message as there is no goof notificator on the home screen such as for SMS or Email. Any pland to improve this?
It seems that the location broadcasting does not really work. I have setup a location (my office) from where to broadcast the postition. I have that as the only location to broadcast from in Nokia Chat.
What I've seen is that most of the time the location is not broadcasted when I'm at work, however for some reason sometimes when I've already left the office, Nokia Chat starts to broadcast my office as my location and this location remains there even several hours after I've left the building, even though I have the update time interval set to 20min.
This behaviour basically results in the location feature to be useless as it mostly does not broadcast my location and when it does, it broadcasts the wrong location.
Nice article on Chat
Auto-reconnecting = THANK YOU
The T9 bug is still there for me.
Any plans to integrate support for vibration?
T9 error is still there for me as well. Trying to train my brain to always put a space after the last word before I hit send should really not be a learning curve on a chat program.
I think it will be good if the chat alerts are in sync with the phone profiles. When I put my phone to silent profile, I would like it to vibrate when there is an incoming call or sms. But when I have incoming chat messages, it does not vibrate. I find it useful if the phone vibrates when I receive a chat message. If this can be fixed it would be great.
When so we get Nokia Chat for Symbian 3.2?
?????
great program! I've tried to use it as often as possible, but so far on grps it keeps disconnecting, autoconnect kind of helps but every time i send a normal message or talk no the phone it goes offline, i wish that would not happen but i think there is nothing you can do about that. Also i never see the link when someone sends of their location, i updated nokia chat and nokia maps 2.0 still nothing, any ideas? Are you guys planning in including instant take and send pictures from the chat window, that would great, maybe even video? I hope a lot more new features are still in progres for nokia chat so it can be even better than other messenger services out there. Marcial from Venezuela
Thanks for your comments. For T9 bug fix, we found the fix too late, but it'll be released in the next update.

I have another suggestion.
Nokia Chat integrates in the Contacts user interface, but there were two tabs before in my E50: the contacts itself and groups. Now the order of tabs is contacts-chat-groups.
So, if I want to open groups, I need to go through the Chat interface (press joystick twice rightwards). There is noticeable lag when the Chat opens (E50 has just one slow CPU).
I suggest to re-arrange the tabs order, so it would be contacts-groups-chat.
Nice aricle on Chat

Hey,
It seems that today we've been out of network in our service hosting centers. We're terribly sorry for the inconvenience and working to fix this.
Thanks!

Ok, now we're back online. Thanks for your patience!

Jukka, that's because there are probably N800s still running OS2007.
The problem I have with the NIT announcement is that it does really say clearly what the OS2008 package *does* aside from configure.
I'm very happy you guys keep working for my beloved little N800, too. You know, my 6110 Navigator is something I find useful... the N800 is the product I really love. ;)
Now: Am I right here that the so-called support for Maemo is, in fact, nothing else than a pre-configured server ("ovi.com") for Telepathy and will therefore *not* support the location-based part of Nokia Chat? In other words: We find the fancy Nokia Chat icon now on our tablets, but after installing the package there's nothing we can do that we couldn't have done before by simply setting up a generic XMPP-account, right? Or am I missing sometthing here? ;)
Hey, great news!
Just one thing, it seems there
On Maemo 2008 (Diablo) I already installed the Nokia Chat functionality using the red pill mode a few days ago. I experienced it as merely an icon and a settings template for the builtin Jabber functionality. Nokia Chat was already usable if you used the proper settings for the Ovi account. I do hope a later version will provide integration for location applications, exchange of (voice)-files... or even a Nokia Maps for Maemo?!
Hi,
Any rumors on porting Nokia Chat to 3rd edition FP2?
