Hello Beta Labs community,
It’s Davis Fields of the Nokia Email service. We’ve had our latest beta up for a little more than a week and have gotten a lot of positive comments and constructive feedback. Wanted to review some points of your feedback and ask for your help with making sure our email settings server is correctly auto-detecting your email’s settings. Please keep sending feedback through the form at email.nokia.com. Thanks!

- Device Support – We did announce N96 support which we don't have right at this moment. The N96 and other S60 3.2 devices require a firmware update, which will be made available as an firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) update over the course of the rest of 2008, and we'll have more information on that in the coming weeks. Please do not install Nokia Email service if it’s not a choice on email.nokia.com
- Folder Support – We’re currently working on IMAP folder support that will sync between your Nokia and your webmail, and in this beta version of Nokia Email we have taken out support for local folders.
- Client Performance – The main focus of this recently released update was to add localization support, more phone support, multiple mailbox support and fix some bugs. One of the focus points in the next release is increased client performance.
- Cancel Accounts – if you need to have a canceled account reactivated, please submit feedback with the subject “CANCELED ACCOUNT” and we’ll delete it so you can sign up again.
- Google Apps Support - We are working on Google Apps support (and other similar hosted domains, where the email servers are different than the email address's domain name).
- HTML Mail - The beta version of Nokia Email service does not render HTML mail. It is clear that a lot of us want this.
- Sent folder fix - A few people are noting that the Sent Folder doesn't seem to be syncing, when it does in fact function. That's because by default that setting is turned off. Go to Settings / What to Sync / Sent Folder / SyncSent Items and set it to enabled.
- Reply-to display name – while email.nokia.com allows you to set your reply-to display name, that functionality currently isn’t working. We’re actively working on fixing this.
- Notifications – In this release, you’re notified of new mail with a sound, audio-alert and an “@” in the menu bar. The technical answer is that Nokia Email is a separate application, so it requires integration work to more fully interoperate with the S60 Messaging application. This is one of the top ‘device integration’ items on our to-do list.
- Active Standy / Auto-Start – right now Nokia Email service doesn’t allow you to configure whether you’d like these to be turned on or off – we’re working to give you that choice.
- Remove older than settings – On the Nokia Email server, we store the past three days of email. When you first get your email set up, you received these three days’ worth of messages. The “Remove older than” settings allows you to decide how much email to store on your phone. These messages are stored on your device and consume memory.
- Correct Mail Settings – Are you an advanced email user whose settings aren’t being correctly detected by the Nokia Email service servers? Please utilize this form and give us more info so we can resolve this. There is no need to send in the settings for a Google Apps or another other similar service, because we’re working on implementing those and it’s a separate process than this.

i won 500000 pounds.can you tell what to do next
A couple of comments on Beta3
Where did my messages stored in local folders go when upgrading to Beta3 without folder support?
Why is "sync while roaming" turned on by default. Wouldn't the safer option be to have it turned off by default and prompt the user e.g. the first time or every time a roaming situation is detected, i.e. when turning on the phone after arriving at the airport in a new country.
Why is sync Sent items disabled by default. As this cleary confuses end users, i.e. they try sending an email and think that it did not get sent as it leaves the outbox but does not appear in the sent items. I would recommend that you turn this on by default to avoid confusing end users and reduce support calls due to this.
In settings, the "Disable sync when" which is set to "Server value 15%" by default is not clear to end users. It should simply say Battery at 15% etc. What is the relevance of the "Server value" and how does that differ from me just setting it at 5% or 20%, except for the percentage off course?
In settings, the "Sync intervals" which is set to "Email push only" is unclear. What kind of interval is "Email push only"? Why doesn't it say "Real-time Push", "Always On" etc.?
Google-apps and other similar hosted domains, where the email servers are different than the email address’s domain name do work with Nokia Email.
It's possible to change your entered email address with a simple javascript after the first connection check is done. Use @imap.gmail.com as email to pass the connection test, then use a javascript to change it to your own emailaddress, supply the incoming servername and port and you're on your way. Check my website for details.
Why oh why did you make it N and E series exclusive? Please make this excellent app available for the rest of the nokia symbian line.. I have a 6220 and is pt using the native e-mail client, which is ok but by no means perfect.
It would be greatly appreciated :-)
> By the way, what about making the feedback form mobile friendly?
Makes sense. Which mobile-friendly survey tools you would recommend?

My N96 with 11.101 firmware works no problem at all!
Just eats battery like its going out of fashion!
Keep it guys you are the best.
Just need the full integration with messaging and it will be appreciated if its integrated in the SEVEN method "Seven is free push email service for S60v3"..when there is an email folder in the Messaging the a very nice icon appear referring to the email service..the Yahoo! icon is really nice and this make the UI really better..i mean special icon with special folder for each each account in the Messaging..if i can send a screenshot i will but how?
Good work!
but please could you work on an implementation for the pcsuite to synchronize with gcal, sunbird or other calendars?
That would be great!!
I'm interested to see what comes out of this campaign. I've blogged about Nokia betalabs at my crowdsourcing 101 z.com/2008/10/buzz-words-crowd sourcing.htm...

Ive had the following problems.
1> Everything worked fine while I was in my home Network but as soon as I went into Roaming Nokia Email started behaving weirdly I stopped getting the Sound notifications not even the "@" symbol when any new mail arrived and moreover I couldn't even access it from my active standby.
2> So after coming back into the home network I tried to reinstall the application to get the integration with my phone back after reinstalling I get the following error message.
" Unable to set up this Mailbox:
XXXXX@gmail.com
We cannot set up mobile e-mail for an account with this e-mail service provider at this time.
Would you like to try a different e-mail address? "
I was able to set it up the first time but what is wrong now I using my same account now also.
Any Suggestions ??
hey Davis, its aka snowy101 from symbianfreak.
When plugging in the USB, the "@" symbol is then removed and in place goes the usb symbol. After usb remove the "@" does not return also. Just to let you guys know.
Hi 2 quick Q.
a) N96. Presumably v11.016 isn't new enough?
b) Is the email client still incompat with intellisync?
Ive been having some problems with the Software .
Sometimes when I sync it say sync successful but it doesn't fetch the new emails, even when i am in push mode the new email doesn't get pushed automatically.
--just so you know restarting the Phone fixes the Problem or if you wait long enough (i.e. 15 mins) then everything starts working perfectly.

Dear Sir,
My name is Basistii Iurii. I am from Moldova. I am not a Nokia user but I want to help you to depict the persons who use the good name of your company to enrich themselves.
This year(2008), on October 28 at about midnight Ireceived a message on my mobile telephone. Here is the text of the message in order it came: "+2347032719237
Congratulation, your cell phone has won
£500.000 pounds in the ongoing Nokia promo.Ref NO:UK147.101.For claims:+447024013102 or Email:nokia.prom.uk@gmail.com"
I did not believe it. I thought it was a joke and checked the country code in Internet.I I decided to call and check if it was true. The man who answered me introduced himself as one from Nokia staff. He congratulated me and told to write an Email with all my initials. As an answer I got the following instructions (I send it to you):
[Content removed by Beta Labs staff]
As you saw from the Payment Release Form they make people pay a fee in order to deliver them the money. It was proved when I called once again to get the concrete information about the fee(because I am not rich). Then I understood that it was a cheat.Until descovering it I was about to borrow the money and pay the fee. I am sure that I am not the only one who got such a message.May be someone paid the fee spending the last money. I hope my letter does not disturb you very much and those men will be punished.Yours faithfully,Basistii Iurii
I am getting the following error message.
” Unable to set up this Mailbox:
XXXXX@gmail.com
We cannot set up mobile e-mail for an account with this e-mail service provider at this time.
Would you like to try a different e-mail address? ”
It was working before now no matter what I do I keep getting the same error msg.
Any ideas?

Google Apps Support - We are working on Google Apps support (and other similar hosted domains, where the email servers are different than the email address’s domain name).
what about letting us entering impa/smtp server, adress, port if domain is not recognize ?
siema miga mi wyswietlacz w 6300 niewiem co mam zrobic a to sie stalo po pobraniu i wgranu do niej aktualizaci oprogramowania pomocy
Glad that you are working on the imap folders support.
Btw, i use a 5320 (which was not listed on the website) and nokia email works perfectly.
By the way, what about making the feedback form mobile friendly ?
It says on FAQ that
Can I receive calls on my mobile phone when I am receiving email?
Yes. Incoming phone calls will always take top priority.
that is of course not always true. In GSM if you have data transfer on-going and network doesn't support NMO I, mobile is not capable to receive the call (or network is actually not able to reach the phone)
Im no stranger to cheating, i seem to pick the good looking bad boys that crush me and leave for some other women most of the time younger.
Wow! what an idea ! What a concept ! Beautiful .. Amazing
