Well, this is something I find really promising: Nokia Handwriting Calculator allows you to calculate handwritten math expressions with a touch-screen Nokia device, and with a Windows PC. As such, the calculator really nice, but the really cool part is, in my opinion, the underlying handwriting recognition technology that enables us to create great new applications in the future.

Where is a Linux binary? I don't want to run it on my amd64 desktop with the qemu-arm. But I'll try it on my n800.
Please nokia guys make a desktop linux build if you make a windows one. it shouldn't be so hard (I know it's hildonised, but gtkiseing is that hard? :)

I cant install this application on my nokia 5800xm...
It always say certificate error (certificate expired)
My date and time are in correct order...
Pls help nokia...
I have try to install this application on my nokia 5800 but it keep saying expired certificate. what should i do how can i install it on my phone.

How could I join the project? Is it a opensource project?
I think this is a very interesting and promising application. As other users have already suggested I think more mathematical functions are needed. Next step would be to include trigonometric and exponential (and logarithmic) applications. This should include irrational numbers like pi and e.
Great application, please continue working on it. I hope to see more upgrades with more features.

I would like to see many more projects for our tablets ...
oh, btw the .deb installer warns that "this software is not from nokia" :)
That's actually the N810 in the video, not the N800.
It seems more than ordinary calculator, it's big advance in input methods. I think that N8x0 tablets could be perfect device for scientists if Nokia would pay them a bit of attention. :)
It would especially useful if Nokia beta labs would add advanced calculator engine (may be like qalculate) with measurement units and vast of mathematical function.
Another expected feature for me is something like "Export formula to LaTeX" or moreover wifi/bluetooth integration with convinient desktop applications. Unfortunately, there still no fast way to write formulas directly into digital format - LaTeX possibly most used and fastest but far slower than paper and pencil. :(

By the way on the 5800 device the application thumbnail has no image.
nice application idea, i just tested it on my 5800 XM (it said not compatible, but it worked), but the application itself needs a lot of work to become practical:
1- there is still a lot of confusion in recognizing the digits,
2 is recognized as 8, 4 as 9(or 1), 9 as 8, 5 as 6...
2- while sending SMS, the handwriting recognition engine recognizes every digit i write without mistakes. while the mistakes in this calculator are everywhere try to make use of that engine in a better way.
3- i tried to type: sin, cos, exp, e, pi(symbol) non of them worked.
so far, this application shouldn't be for public use, But THANK YOU NOKIA for this application and i'm sure it is going to be brilliant once it becomes final.
l tested the calculator in my 5800!when i wrote 7 numbers it crashed! Vibration switch off and the display was black!i had to turnoff the cell and reboot!p.s. Sorry for my english... I'm italian
