Yes. We heard you. After listening your heartbreaking pleas, complaints, wishes, threats, and prayers for a year, we are now proud to present Conversation application, mightier and with wider compatibility than ever.
Conversation is an add-on application that allows you to follow your communication with contacts as streams of conversations, which it organizes, based on individual contacts. The application also makes it very easy to reply to received messages and continue an ongoing conversation with the contact.
Medium success for my E66-2. Installed everything from scratch (E-series 3.1 version): there was no "Nokia Contacts Service Support Package" to uninstall. The rest of the install went ok.
The app took ages to load; eventually did, but it didn't recognize all the phone numbers (even if the regular SMS app does) of my contacts. Also, tt only showed received messages, not sent (maybe I didn't wait long enough?). I don't know the size of the inbox, but there's a whole year there (say, +500 texts, I'm not THAT heavy user). Also, it kept saying I was without memory even when it was the only app running (besides Jbak Taskman). So, off it went; it's pretty useless right now.
Also the same problem as 23 above on my N80. Once installed following the full instructions, I can't open Contacts any more or launch Conversation. It just returns back to the menu immediately.
Uninstalled all and reinstalled the Internet support app and can use the default Contacts okay.
On my N95, it does not send Russian text properly!
Only question marks arrive to recipient. I tried in English Language mode and in Russian Language mode, to no avail.
It seems useless for Russia now. Uninstalled to avoid confusion.
@ beta labs team
Nice app, but i think all point of "threading" is complitly missed here. Yes SMS are sorted in groups of recipients, but this is not threading. Threading is when we group messages on subject - this way we get actual CONVERSATION feeling.
I don't think that this app should be called "conversation". all i can get from this app is - to whom and how many messages i have sent and scroll through them of course, but that's not a threading.
When i send same sms to two or more recipients i get as many "threads" - this is not conversation.
I think would be just easier to take email threading concept and not trying to reinvent qheil again.
Nice Software.
But, it's not support for Chinese char. SMS if I directly input in the dialog(the receiver will got XXX, but it's fine with 123 or ABC, well, 中文is needed DEFENITELY).
So, support Chinese SMS input & send out in correct content is needed DEFENITELY
Thanks.
Hello World!.
I have a Nokia E61i, and I have a good install w/this instruction:
-Erase all SMS (in/out)
-uninstall conversation & Phonebook extension
-Reboot phone
-Download & install new version of Conversation
-Download & install new version of Phonebook...
that it.
No restore factory settings
Comments about application:
Work more fast than previous version.
in/out icon improved
I have to test it w 600 sms to could talk about stability...
See ya..
I really *love* Conversation on my E71! At first, it didn't run stable but somehow this has bettered.
Nevertheless, there are some things I would like to see improved:
- time stamps are not really necessary in the overview, so just cut that
- messages which are too long are beginning to scroll - that's not very easy to read. Wouldn't it be possible to have smaller icons and a smaller font (plus no time stamp), so that you could read all of the message and not having to open it
- i would love to make it the standard SMS center of my E71
So, keep up the good work, I really appreciate what you are doing...
Good grief. Was this really written by people who work for Nokia?? One of the leading communication companies on the planet?
What has actually changed since the last version?
- Viewing a new message in Conversation, still requires you to physically 'open' it to clear the 'New Message' flag.
- Having delivery reports active, causes the report to show as a new inbound message (that cannot be deleted and permanently shows as 1 unread message in the conversation main menu).
- Screen space is STILL wasted with the pointless time & date in place of the actual messages. The scrolling text almost defeats the whole point of a conversation view.
Nokia please don't tell us you've listened to our comments and then release this. Please read the comments above (esp 40 & 64).
Any chance of getting this on 5th Ed? Damn useful to be able to get it running on my 5800.
Nearly 11 months I have waited for this application to be updated. Why? Because it is, in my opinion, one of, if not the most useful applications from Nokia Beta Labs. One I use on a daily/hourly basis. I look forward to this being intergrated into new firmware releases.
I followed the intructions to the letter and encountered no problems on both my N95 8GB and N95-1.
Well done Nokia for listening to our pleas.
It is a pity that this soft can't support chinese language
Thanks, keep up the good work. This app should be in by default.
Nice Job.
1. But i cant recommnd it to other S60 users besause of the installation difficulties"not all S60 users are power users".
2. Please make the integration with Contacts optional.
3. Also integration with the Messaging.
Hi there, I am really excited about this application, but I am still having problems on my E71.
I can't delete messages in Conversation! When I delete a single message it won't disappear. If I try to delete a complete conversation the phone hangs with an infinite progress bar.
Any ideas?
Bye,
Mark
Well, the issue which made me uninstall it from my N73 the last time around has again surfaced, this time, with the new conversations release and my N85.
Many times while replying via the default messaging app, when i try to send it i get a "Mess. Editor in Use" error and i am left at the message editor screen itself.
The next part i think maybe a FP2 error, since i cannot verify that it happens after installing the coversations app only.
If i save that message to the drafts and then try to open the draft, the message is all empty!
Glad to see this project is still alive and kicking! But still a few problems with this release - the biggest one being that whenever I exit Conversation (using any method - 'exit' or the red button), the next time it loads it has to load all the messages again.
Hope you guys get this fixed soon!
Cheers
xx
Still broken, just like previous versions. Some of the sent sms (either sent from Messages screen, or from Contacts via Conversations) stay in Outbox even though they have been delivered to the recipient. After Outbox gets filled, sending sms fails with "Already in use error". Also, with 2500 messages (Incoming and Outgoing), N97 8GB gets uncomfortably unresponsive. Yes I did a clear install.
N95, my mistake
Is will this application available, or will it aver be, on the 5800?
Gao: Yes, I am using the S60 3.0 package.
Still no unicode support?
Still can't get it - what's the protocol used by Conversation? Is it an open protocol, or a proprietary one? All my buddies have to be registered at Nokia site?
The second question is about traffic consumption: what's the average figures? Is there a way to minimize it?
Dash wrote everything I wanted to say: Improve the message view - no time stamps and always print the whole message. It's much easier to read and understand the messages if you don't have to activate scrolling on each of them. (I wonder why we even have to write you this as that's the way many other applications from other manufactures work.) Never the less, I want to say thank you for this app. It's not perfect at the moment - but on the right way and I hope you put further development into it to improve it.
there is a ooooold problem,
the Chinese messages sent by conversation are not shown normally --just "???????"--on S40's Phone ,like NOKIA 6630 AND other brands' phone, like, MOTO, LEVONO, what's wrong with it?? HOW TO sovle it!? THANK YOU!
Need for Chinese SMS sending support~
Yes, let's get this threaded SMS capability rolled into Messaging in the future like we now see with the iPhone, Windows Mobile, and BlackBerry devices. There should be no need for a separate application to get this capability.
Hi
Idea for aplication for nokia devices:
Data bank on nokia device. I have n95 8GB I am using..4GB of that memory.. or less. Idea is simple. Create software what will recognize my digit camera and will make me able to copy pictures to nokia phone, by USB cable. We will need a special cable for that, but I think it will be a nice and usefull tool. I have done some resources about that and all my friend have up to 4GB memory cards on their cameras. And belive me.. it is pain in the ass when you have to delete some pictures from memory card. So please create a simple aplication what will let me manage files on my camera or other usb drivers/pendrives/mp3 players etc. drivers for them could be downloadable from manufactured websites or from nokia.
Thanks
Lukasz
I have been extremely disappointed with the SMS aspect of my e71. It does not show threaded messages as everyone has commented on (wish I did my homework a little deeper). Some of my major problems:
-lag time... it takes up to a minute, maybe two to process a text message. I have to wait to go into conversations to view it.
-locks up... if i get 2 or 3 text messages quickly (and who hasn't received 2, 3 or 4 texts from a friend as part of a conversation), my e71 will either lock up, throw me out of any program that I am in and the homescreen will start blicking several times.
I've deleted threads after 25 texts hoping that would help, I've tried switching where the texts are stored (phone memory to memory card) all to no avail.
Phone is a little expensive to dump after only 5 months, but my wife just got the iphone 2 and it's threaded texting is wonderful. I actually miss my old Palm treo texting ability!
Based on these comments, I am not going to spend all the time downloading this updated Conversations. really disappointed in Nokia on this.
It still has the same old problem with failing to recognise contacts when messages received are prefixed with country code. This is not a problem with Nokia's default message app. I really want to use this app but alas this basic flaw makes it unappealing.
Please go take a look at smschat. It's not perfect but it's a lot closer to a useable chat UI than this!

Re 31 & 33, I see the same issue installing "Phone Extension Manager" with the 3.1 package and an E71.
I don't have a "Nokia Contact Support Package" listed in the application manager, so I can't uninstall it.
Conversations does work, except that when SMS messages are deleted, they still appear in the Coversations list. When the device is rebooted the message list in Conversations is then correct.
Starting from scratch (I have the old convo installed) is quite a hassle. :(
I'll have to wait to give it a go until I decide to clean up my phone.
Still no proper support for Cyrillic characters :(
When sending message in Russian from whitin Conversation it sends "abracadabra". Although the message looks ok in sent items, the recipient gets "????" instead of text.
The app is quite useful
However, I found it fails to recognise the correct time of receving a message while the time for sending one is correct
I was guessing there is a problem of time zone but I couldn't find any setting about this
Thank you Nokia! :) One of the apps (along with the Location Tagger and the Enhanced Calculator) of which the final version should be implemented into the default firmwares, imho. Kudos.
Yay! you guys DO listen. Thanks!
Nice program. Any plans to integrate it with the Messaging app instead of (or in addition to) the Contacts list?
Installed on my nokia n82, newest firmware. Now the contactlist doesn't work. It won't start...
1. This is a very useful addition to the S60 functionality, which I use a lot. I look forward to seeing it in mainstearm firmware releases.
2. There are clear improvements, which is great, but can we have a change log please? I will have difficulty evaluating this as a new version unless you can document what the changes are from the old version.
3. Installation instructions say "First, please reboot you terminal". Odd and confusing terminology this. By "terminal", do you mean the PC or the phone? This wording needs changing.
4. I had a previous version of Conversation installed - and you say I need to back up my phone and restore factory settings. Your documentation needs to say why we need to do this, as there needs to be a really good reason. This is not something to be done lightly. I did not do it, and the new version seems to have installed OK - but what am I risking going wrong? As I say, this needs to be documented.
still have conflict with adaptxt.
Thanks for updating, but I'm going to skip this:
Thanks to Owen's excellent review (#26), I learned that the really bothering everyday usage hiccups that Conversation suffered from, are still there :(
Please take the time to fix those & add support for Unicode languages like Hebrew.
BTW - I'm using an old "Contacts Services" package that's a mere ~19kb compared to 750kb+ "Internet Services" that was offered with newer version. I tried both, saw no difference & opted for the former - am I missing something here? Besides the obvious lack of support for extras like Messanger which I don't use.
I give up, guess I'll just have to buy SMSchat.
Thanks for trying the updated conversation application.
For the issue of "Update error" comment 30, my suggestion is please do the third installation step from the "Installation instructions", i.e. go to the Application manager and look for "Nokia Contact Support Package" and uninstall it. After that you should be able to install the phonebook extension manager and conversation sis package.
For the issue of "already built-in" in comment 31. After installing the new NISSP,please so do the third installation step from the "Installation instructions" i.e. go to the Application manager and look for "Nokia Contact Support Package" and uninstall it. After that you should be able to install the phonebook extension manager and conversation sis package. Without installing the "phonebook extension manger" Conversation application might not be launchable from Installed Application grid.
Glad you guys have decided to get back on with developing this app. I see it as one of the most important updates to the Nokia platform that just isn't getting done. Full qwerty keyboards aren't just for smart phones anymore and people are sending text messages like crazy.
Unfortunately I was really no happier with this version than I was with the older one. Since I have been using ThreadSMS to suit my needs my expectations from Nokia are that they at least outperform a single developer when they release an app. With conversations this doesn't happen.
- 500-600 Messages causes the application to take about a minute to open while I stare at a "Loading" screen. ThreadSMS allows for you to only load X amount of messages (all is an option) on startup. The whole all or nothing approach seems like too much for someone who likes to save everything and use your built in search tool to find it again later if I need it.
- I hate that it quits when I press the close softkey. It quits just so I can wait another minute to start it again.
- Why can't it integrate into the Messaging system? It's integrated into the address book but that doesn't really make sense to me. It should be overwriting Messaging not be a tab from my address book.
- The whole scrolling text thing sucks. Let me have different ways to view my conversation. The interface is just too big and doesn't allow me to view a lot of information at once.
I wanted to come up with something positive to say about this app. I really can't fish that one out for you guys though. I feel like some people here are happy just to get some threaded messaging but in this day and age it's more of an expectation of my cellphone. My hope is that this wasn't just a "please shut up here's some software" release and that there is a resurgance in your interest in providing a better messaging device passed sending email.
hi, Thank you for updating this app.
I have a similar problem with Phonebook Extension Manager like No.23.
However the app works propaly without Phonebook Extension Manager
on my E51 & plz Unicode supporting thanks.
For the issue on comment 24, dthree, could you please tell me after you done a factory reset on your mobile terminal, have you followed the installation instructions steps, i.e., Install latest NISSP, uninstall Nokia Contact support package, install the phonebook extesion manager package, and finally install the conversation(from N series S60 3.0) package?
Thanks.
i could not get this to work on the 5800. will there be an edition for it?
thanks
BIG BIG THANKS for the return of Conversation. Working 1st time on my E71, I have it as my right shortcut key and its staying put there :)
when i try to delete a message it doesn't work. delevery status appears like a mesage without any text, i can't delete it and i can't view it.
nokia n95 v30
I just installed conversation and was so disappointed that it's still the same. I dont care if icons are improved, it should have new useful interface than this also its annoyingly slow down the contact list if you have more than few hundred messages. Performance should have been the keep update than just updating few icons. Its little better than the last version but it still slow down the contacts for few sec.
Deleting conversation is still the same. It takes forever to delete a conversation.
Memory full error is still there.
I agree with other users that is should be part of Messaging.
Its a better idea than traditional Messaging but it really needs a lot of improvement as far as performance is concern. After testing for few hours, i m going to uninstall it with the hope that the next version will take care of major issues with this app.
Maybe the devellopers should look at the interface of Windows Live messenger for Symbian S60. That interface is perfect.
The interface should be just like a MSN window.
Realy dislike the big font and scrolling messages.
Also why do we need to open a message to mark it read???? I want the whole message in the conversation window, and as soon as I see or open the conversation, the sms's should be marked read automattically.
Gao: I did follow the installation steps you indicated. I even deleted all text messages, uninstalled everything, did the reset and installed again.
dthree: are you taking the conversation installation sis package from the "Nseries S60 3.0" for your N75?
Hello, I am not sure if this problem is only for present for me, but i will just mention it nonetheless.
I have an e71, and i recently installed nokia conversation on it. however, it gave me problems with the editing of the contact llst details, giving a lag or having to cancel the operation before being able to go to the next step.but nvm. the more serious thing is this, one fine day, my phone just turned off by itself, and when i turned it on again, after everything loads , the moment i press any button on the keypad/power button, poof! it shuts down (not restart). then i will switch on and it will repeat itself a couple of times before it will load normally, and it is pretty frustrating. i removed e memory card, sim card, loaded in offline mode, and stilll happens occasionally. then when i had the chance to load it normally, i quickly backed up all my data, and subsequently removed the conversation application. Now it is working fine already, but i do not noe if it is a culmination of the various actions that I have done, or is it just the conversation software. so I hope to see if someone has a similar experience. Thanks
Thanks Nokia for the Christmas present! It works great on the N96
Excellent to see this updated, I'm now going through to install it on my various devices - except the 5800XM. I realize S60v5 is way new, and this obviously is being delivered in a major workaround - is there any hope for future development?
Quite honestly, I was rather disappointed to see this not implemented in S60v5 out of the box. It's an old enough product, and seems to be about as stable as it's going to get, from what I can read here.
With every other smartphone OS (and even some featurephones) supporting threaded messaging, this is definitely one area in which S60 lags behind.
It is ridiculous that this program is not installed on all new nokias by default. im glad it was updated and im about to install now. hopefully i dont have any problems getting it on my 6650 fold. i believe its a S60 3.2 device, but it wasn't in the list. the very first thing i do every time i buy a new nokia is install this program.
UNICODE!!!!!!
Hi
when will you add Nokia 5800 to this product update ?
S60 v5
I'm w8ing for it and see your betalabs every day.
Can't get this to work on my son's N75. We had the old one working then tried to install the update from several month ago and it that broke it. For this update, I removed everything, reset the phone, followed the install instructions and it just doesn't work. No tab in the address book and launching it with the icon does nothing. No error or action at all. What should I do?
The new version works ok on e61i. However, the only bug that the old version had is still there. When clicking on a message it transfers into the message view. If I use the red key to exit from it the tab position (Contacts, Conversation, Groups) is forever stuck on Conversation. Kind of a shame since the new version was actually tested on e61i.
Getting an endless "Memory Full" error after starting the application.
Had to shutdown the phone.
It probably loads all the messages in the My Folders folder... Is it possible to configure the Conversation app to only us the inbox and send items folder?
the guys here need to do more work
My n95 gives a memory full error
and this app freakin changes my theme to the Nseries default theme
Thank you so much!! Rather apprehensive about installing over the old conversation, but will give it a go after I've backed up my data ...
And I can now finally get a FP2 phone :) Please keep developing this application; it really should be incorporated into new phones by default.
I have the same problem as the Russian guy - When sending/replying in Hebrew from within the application the receiving party receives an sms that is made of "???????" instead of actual words.
And I have another problem, because I have something like 1600 sms saved(800 in the inbox and another 800 in the sent section) it takes the phonebook a very long time to access a contact's phone number - you can't access a phone number until conversation finishes to load all the contact's sms history/conversations. If someone asks for a phone number of a friend, I have to wait for about 20-30 seconds before I can give the number to him because conversation didn't finish loading all my contacts, it's quite annoying. Why does conversation and accessing a phone number needs to be intertwined?
@19 - Jay
Don't use the red button to exit contacts - instead use the 'exit' button (the right soft-key). This will keep the SMS loaded, so that next time you enter contacts it comes up straight away.
(Using the red button to exit it seems to unload it from memory so that it has to be re-built next time it is started).
@Tommi / Beta Labs Team
Thankyou! This is the one single thing I missed most, having moved from an N95 to an N85. My phone now feels more complete! I absolutely concur that this (or whatever derivitive of this emerges) should be integrated into future firmwares..
followed the instructions carefully for n95 8gb and installed everything as described. The problem seems to be that once phonebook extension manager is installed...it will not allow me to open contacts on the phone. It tries to load then stops and returns to the previous screen.
I managed to install the new version without issues on my 6120c -- I uninstalled the old Conversation and Nokia Internet Services; (probably unnecessary: I rebooted the phone); installed the new Nokia Internet Services package; uninstalled Nokia Contacts Service Support; and finally installed the new Conversation. Works fine.
Can't really detect many differences other than the better message in/out icons in the threads, the "Loading" prompt at startup (not sure if this is an improvement!) and the prompt to save/delete when using the "Exit" softkey whilst writing a message. However, there's definitely a few suggestions I'd make for future versions:
1) Whilst there's a prompt to save a message as a draft when using the right softkey "Exit" option, there's no such option when using the hangup key -- this key instantly closes Conversation and any draft messages are lost (they're not saved to Drafts). Closing the application with the hangup key is one of my big hangups (excuse the pun) with Conversation -- it's easy to press accidentally, and it closes the application and you need to wait for ages to restart while your messages are loaded.
With the large RAM provided on most S60 phones these days, there's no reason why Conversation/Contacts can't be left running happily in the background, and there's no reason why the hangup key can't be mapped to simply background the app rather than close it (this function, for example, is provided by SMBH's Papyrus calendar application). I would strongly recommend this functionality (and to the casual user unaware of multitasking it will give Conversation the appearance of starting again instantly after it's run once).
2) A minor bug: the Conversation icon when in the Conversation tab (i.e. the one on the right that replaces the address book icon when you change tabs in Contacts) is too big -- part of it gets chopped off on the sides. It's just a cosmetic thing, but it wasn't an issue in the previous version.
3) A draft message is also lost without prompting if you jump into viewing a particular message in the thread -- this can be a little annoying!
But otherwise, it all works extremely well. Please keep up development, and thanks again for getting it working with FP2 phones :)
Cheers,
Owen
it's very depressing as it doesn't support Chinese! the messaging app in treos is much better! i think nokia should learn more from palm!
After I installed Conversation, it slowed down opening of the Contacts list on my N78, which got annoying real quick.
So I removed Conversation. Uninstalling the app required manual closing of the Contacts app with KillMe (I guess JBak TaskMan would have worked too), because the uninstaller couldn't figure out by itself that it had to shut down Contacts to remove Conversation.
p.s. an update on Conversation slowing down Contacts:
(from http://symbianism.blogspot.com /2008/12/nokia-conversation-al ive-and-kick... )
"If you have lots of messages on your phone, Conversation can slow down opening of the Contacts application up to te point where it gets really annoying. Interestingly, the old version of Conversation from last year that runs on my Feature Pack 1 Nokia 6120 Classic does not slow down Contacts, so this is apparently a new bug in the new Feature Pack 2 version."
But maybe this bug bites the new FP1 version too?
there is a way to save conversation in a office format ? sorry for my english :P
I have a Nokia N95 running firmware V31.0.014 06-11-98 RM-159
When attempting to install the Phonebook Extension Manager I get the generic error "Update Error". The other two required components install fine, and I have no previous version of Conversations installed. Has anyone else experienced this? Any solution?
My installation experience was a little different on my Nokia E71.
I uninstalled the Nokia Internet Services Support Package and installed the new one. Then I installed the Phone Extension Manager... but it didn't install and I got a message saying that it is "already built-in" or something along those lines. So, I installed Conversation and all seems to be working well...
I feel very upset that the new version still cannot support unicode characters. It is 2009 now! I don't think the people in nokia lab have develop the app seriously!
BTW,I use E61 in china, use both english and chinese, but al least I need to sent msg in chinese to others. But the app can't do it yet!
Disappointed! The version have no any improvement, in my opinion.
When I send a message in Hebrew through Contacts, I see it OK, but when my sister gets it, it looks like "??? ????? ??".
The interesting thing is that she also uses Conversation and that she ALSO sees Hebrew correctly when she sends it, but then I am the one to get it like "??? ????? ??" ?!?
When trying to read it through the regular Inbox, it still looks like "??? ????? ??".
But of course, if I send Hebrew message from the normal menu (of the phone, not of Conversation) then it gets correctly - even if I READ it through Conversation, so Cellcom (my cellular provider in Israel) says it's not their problem, but must be a flaw in the Conversation version.
This is the only version of Conversation that I have ever installed and I don't see another version available. Besides, why do I need another version? I don't care that the menu is in English, I just want to SEND and RECEIVE Hebrew in the messages themselves.
Besides, my phone have also option for English menu and the messages in Hebrew still work correctly, so I don't see how it should be related, it's almost 2009 now, not the early DOS era where software had a one language option :)
So please tell me - I must be doing something wrong, right? I already reset the phone a few times, even without using backup to restore it (a lot of painful work...) and it still didn't help me. Could you?
Thank you.
Hi,
When will conversation for Nokia 5800 be available? Had this app on my previous phone and I want it to have it in my Nokia 5800.
Its not work with hebrew !!!!
Hi, Please please please please please please please please, make this application AVAILABLE for 5800XM.
PLEASE!!!!!!!
Worked perfect for me! However, when I install the Windows Live Messenger, I wasn't able to open the contact list, so I had to uninstall Conversations. Is it a way to have them both?
I think the problem is that the Live Messenger adds a new tab to the contact List (just like conversations did).
Anyone, help?
[Thanks in advance]
Well, i guess contacts integration is a good thing.. as long as you can jump from selected contact card to the corresponding conversation. If you cannot and it is just a "tab" in contacts application i do not see any use of it.
And - no unicode support renders it just completely useless for many customers worldwide.
err, "selected" i mean "open", not just selected.
Hi,
I have use this application since last year and have been looking forward for the new version. As I understand that the application is still a 'beta', i don't have much complaint but did suggested previously that it would be good if user can select on the contact / conversation to make calls. That was later incorporated and I was very happy to see that.
This month, I saw that a newer version was released. I have decided to first upgrade my E51 firmware to the current version 300.34.56 and later installed the application as per instruction.
I encountered some problem but didn't gave up - decided to reinstall and read and follow the given instruction very carefully - however, after my third attempt - i still found that the problem continues to exist i.e. I've been getting error message stating that my phone is running out of memory and asking me to try close some applications and try again - the message appears several time upon loading the Conversation application. Sometimes - by just pressing the 'reject call' button - it will goes away and at certain time - it will just crash the application. After third time - am getting tired & annoyed as I don't think I did anything wrong / against the instruction.
Probably it has got to do with the firmware version i'm using, Therefore, for the time being, I decided not to use the application until problem is verified and resolved.
thanks
hi Beta Labs team!
1. Please seriously listen to the comments/criticism on this blog, especially Nr 40.
2. It would be fatal if this application is ignored again for another 11 Months. Nokia's sms system is very outdated and very poor when compared to other phones (especially the Iphone). Sms is and always will be a core function of a mobile device. In a few months, I want to buy an new phone and I will not stay with a Nokia if the devellopers refuse to update it's outdated sms system. I'm wondering how you guys can ignore all the comments on this matter and continue to develop minor apps, which have a much smaller target audience.
3. I have a N82 and live in switzerland (NrStyle: 079 555 55 55 or +41 79 555 55 55) and somehow, only incoming messages are shown. So Conversations isn't working for me.
4. After 11 Month, I hardly see any improvements. The green and red Icons? It has been said about 1000 times:
- The App should be part of messaging and not contact management
- Text Scrolling is useless. You need to see the whole message. Change the resolution of everything or make it possible to change it the way you want. There is an application which shows that it can be done (but sucks otherwise (smschat))
- alternatively, just copy the whole Iphone sms style..
- for absolutely hardcore bonus points, include email, facebook and other IMS protocols in the conversation view. This would grant Nokia another 10 Years of market dominance!
Seriously, update your messaging system!

Nokia 5800 please!! And for the love of GOD, Please make it a simple install file instead of uninstall 3 apps before installing 2 more, rebooting, kicking your dog n peeing in your neighbors yard n then viola, it works.
No thanks, simple install and for 5800XM please. Is it too much to ask??
When will it support Nokia 5800, s60 5th edition ?
I installed this and the contact list couldn't be accessed anymore. I tried to uninstall it and it still wouldn't work. Finally figured out from a forum posting that the issue was not with Conversation but Messenger Live. So I uninstalled this and I could access my contacts again. No need to do soft/hard reset (not that they work)... or even get it reinstalled with the same firmware etc...
can any body please tell how do we use the same in the E51
Program needs alot of refining. Very slow when opening contacts. Supposedly because of large volume of text messages. But isn't that what this program was supposed to handle? Opening the application from the "App" menu causes it to crase straight away with a memory error. Even after fresh install and complete phone wipe. But the app will work from the contacts screen albeit very slowly. Been watching this app closely and am annoyed that it still hasn't reached it's potential.
Ruhel is right, This app has
Ruhel is right, This app has more cons than i can handle. Delays the opening of contacts app by a very noticable amount. and after that when u go to the conversations tab, some bug causes the app to sometimes rebuild its database of messages, which again takes a while. There is also a small unnoticed missing feature i guess, which renders the app to consider that +65 XXXXXXXX is different from XXXXXXXX, unlike the default messaging app which is more intelligent.
as much as i hate to indirectly praise apple.... There is a free app called freeisms, which mimics apples messaging system. This app does what conversations does, but does it better. It still does have bugs, but it is better than conversations.
Conversation for S60 5th edition
I am using an N97. Any idea when N97 users will be able to view their messaging threads as conversations? Mursshud Van Merlin xaz@ovi.com
No option to move an SMS to another folder
Dear Conversation development team,
I like the app and such it to follow the SMS conversations.
Just found out that despite the fact messages can be marked, thers no option to store (move) them to another folder. In the standard Inbox, that is possible.
Hope to see this feature in an update of Conversation.
Best regards,

Still doesn't work with Cyrillic
Should be a great app, but still no Cyrillic symbol support when typing a response in edit control at the bottom.
