Ovi Contacts client for S60 3rd FP2 improved (also, please take the survey!!)

Written by: Kristian Luoma, Product Manager, Contacts on Ovi Ovi Contacts

It's amazing to see how the sun is back, isn't it? At least we feel more energetic day by day, and you can tell that by watching the joyful status updates in the Ovi Contacts too.

It's been way to long since we made the last update to the Ovi Contacts client software in the Beta Labs. It's about time we do that now. Since the launch of Ovi Contacts app here in Beta Labs, we've been mostly focused on improving the quality of the S60 3rd FP2 version.

In fact, since releasing of the first version, we've been able to fix a lot of bugs. I hope you'll feel the difference, despite the fact that we don't have any major feature updates. It should run a lot smoother than it did before. In addition, we improved the search - many people have been complaining that it's hard to find contacts. Hopefully now, you'll be able able to connect with your friends more easily.

Updates aside, I still feel that I need to refer to topics addressed in my previous post. We've made lots of actions to make sure that the horrible day never happens again. With that said, and in addition to apologies, I feel that I need to sincerely thank you all. For us, it has been encouraging to see the support despite the problems. So, thanks for your Beta Labs spirit. We need that. Never let that spirit go.

Thank you.

Where is the S60v5 version for the 5800xm????

Surely it would be common sense to make a version thats compatible with your latest operating system????

I don't want to be negative, but alex is right. Can we get an update on XMPP integration? I'd love to connect to ANY (not just google) jabber server. This really is a great app, but I can re-invite everyone I know on all different servers to my new username.

Thanks for listening!
Nick

Still no transports. Still not really XMPP. Still completely useless to anyone who already has contacts. Apparently there is some lucky group of people who are grudgingly permitted to link it to Google Talk, but only Google Talk. And Nokia E71 users aren't among this group - God knows why as it's a serverside function.

Cough! What is the problem? Why is it so difficult?
