Nokia Image Exchange updated, with performance and quality improvements

Nokia Image Exchange is an experimental imaging service to make browsing and sharing images fun and easy. It aims to provide a seamless integration of a mobile image gallery application and a corresponding web-service. If you haven't tried it out yet, you can download it freely from http://imageexchange.nokia.com
We now have an update for our mobile software. This new release is mostly a maintenance update that tries to address issues that have been noted with the earlier release. Still, we do have some notable improvements for you.
Key highlights:
- Speed. Performance has been improved especially regarding public browsing and comments. Image Exchange should also be much faster to recognize your friends who join the service and the web interface should also be faster.
- Browsing published images is no longer limited.
- Sharing images over Bluetooth is now possible (via Share->Send).
More importantly this release includes bug fixes on multiple areas, including sharing. We've especially targeted issues regarding invalid image counters, duplicates in People menu and issues that have caused the registration to fail.
Stay tuned, we are already working on for the next releases.

Can we disable uploading all the images by default? Unless you can do that, i am not installing it.
And, once again, another application that on the N96 it doesn't work or has issues... :(
Unable to install on N95-2, and N82. Do you have to remove the previous version prior to installing this update?
Alsiladka ... What I did is in Settings choose (not used) in Primary and Secondary access point. App is not connectiong to network this way ... try it.
Mickey ... maybe someone from Nokia Labs Staff will help you ... if not, I think reset will .. but as you said .... it is pain in the ....
Just preparing myself now for a reset, double checking I have all my access keys/codes etc. Im guessing i will lose my N-Gage games too :(
Hard reset done with my N82, and now restarting from scratch.
N95-2 still unable to install update, and now not even prompting me in the application that there is indeed a newer version available since it reset my N95
Got the latest version on my N82 now after a hard reset, but still unable to install updated version on N95. No prompt to download updated version?
Great !!! I hope this is not Fool's day prank. :-)
Micky ... On my N95 8GB everything went OK. I've updated the application without uninstalling previous version. It works nice.
Thanks, I did manage to download the app within Image Exchange on my N95-2, but upon installation, my handset rebooted, and now I can't install the new version.
On my N82, I tried to uninstall the previous version, which failed, and now i cannot open the application, or install the newer version of Image Exchange. Im at a loss here, and its looking likely I will have to reset my N82, which is a pain.
Downloaded from the website and installed over the previous version on my E71 without any problems. I don't sync my images, don't see the point. Would prefer if this had post to web & email sending?
why is it not compatable with the n96??
Hi
@Micky
Some uses have experienced problems on the upgrade, for some suggestion please check this forum thread

@Bycek
That is a good suggestion for people that do not want to use the online functionality. You can also just go offline and the application shouldn't try to connect at all

Dear Nokia Image Exchange user,
Due to sudden increase in our user numbers our uploads capacity is temporarily overused. We are already working on the problem and expect it to be corrected shortly.
Thank you for your patience,
Nokia Image Exchange team
Of course, what a great site and informative posts, I will add backlink - bookmark this site? Regards, Reader.

Liking the improvements to Nokia Image Exchange. This program has replaced the standard gallery on my phone for viewing pictures ( the built in one is so slow) Heres a suggestion for the next release. Instead of uploading the files to the image exchange website how about linking it to your Ovi account? This way I could share my pictures quickly as the file upload is already done and I would just be chossing to make it public via my share on Ovi account. Simple innit? Then get rid of that nasty gallery app on my phone and replace it with Image exchange. Picture viewer and sharing all in one place. Photo Viewer looks good but in practice is so slow i've already uninstalled it! With cameras and phones producing bigger and better pictures all the time and file sizes increasing 10 fold a simple and quick solution is needed. Long live Image Exchange and goodbye Photo Viewer and Gallery!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!
Good points:
* I didn't know that an application could look so good and be so fast and responsive on my phone
* the image viewer is much better than the standard one
* automatic picture upload is great, much better than the ovi interface (6 pictures at a time, manual upload)
* automatic contact recognition is also great
bad points / features suggestions:
* when I first started the software, it could not connect to your web interface. It succeeded after I retried a few times.
* I liked the tagging mechanism of the standard viewer. It seems there is no way to do that ? Look at how it has been implemented in F-Spot (f-spot.org), with hierarchical tags. This would be very welcome on my phone. Release a public API so that I can also synchronize the data from f-spot.
Keep up the good work ! And let me also share some of my photos on facebook.
Looking nice. I think it's good service.
