Hello!
Friend View takes another small step to make you feel closer to you friends! We have just released a Spring gift for you! A nice update to the S60 application with Friend alerts!
Now you can keep Friend View in the background in "Normal" or "Active" modes (options: Refresh Mode) and a "pling-plung" from Friend View will tell you that your friend is close by so you can meet. You will of course get alerted as well if Friend View is in use in foreground.
Depending on where you live or travel, on your schedule and mood, you can adjust the Friend alerts' meeting zone (options: More: Settings - Friend Alerts & Meeting zone) to define how close your friends should be to get alerted.
We also did small enhancements and bug fixings.
Remember to try the shortcuts for a better experience:
STILL DOESN'T WORK ON 3 NETWORK IN THE UK :(
Other 3rd party application developers can talk to networks and resolve issues, so what's NOKIA reason for not sorting this issue with 3UK Network?
FriendView is still a FAIL on all my phones.
what would make this app a huge winner is if it merged with ovi contacts? also, why doesn't it use the maps already on the phone? why waste money downloading them off the net when they're already on the handset?
Hy...
Add me on Nokia Friend View,
DouglaSDM
From São Paulo - Brazil.
Thanks
DouglaSDM and all.....would loveto addmore people into my Nokia Friend View, but im using the Nokia 5800 model...not yet supported.
Also, is there any plan to release this great application to other model like iPhone, Sony, etc?, just like the Nokia Easy Meet?
amir
Is there any way with Friend View I can show my location to a PC user (through their browser)?
Google Latitude lets you out through iGoogle, but it's not 100% satisfactory because the counter party needs an iGoogle account to view my location.
Hmm nice work but i don't think i will be switching to this app.
I am already using Google Latitude on my Nokia 5800 and i don't see anything provoking in it.
Let's add something more interesting like the cell phone model in use by my friend? my friend's last 5 destinations or his/her route etc.
Still no 5800xm support for this app?
Have the developers forgotten that this model exists?
Google can support it so why can't nokia?
@Gabe: Yes you can follow up and use manual location and other features from the web version at friendview.nokia.com You only need a Nokia Account as with the mobile application. Please do try it out :) We are still working on it and on more improvements on both versions. Enjoy!
Cheers!

great work so far, It's fast small and dosen't consume to much power.
And thanx to the team for emailing me back on the feedback I've been giving. Small things like that really matters.
Keep up the good work. (and I'll continue to take time trying to give good and detailed feedback)
From a developers view a great piece of software - howeverI think it is not acceptable releasing such a tool without taking appropriate steps to secure privacy of people using it. It is totally clear that this kind of software will be exploited, either by police state madness that can be found in china or germany, or by criminals all around the world. Yes you may say "it is just a tool" - but we are in 2009 and we learnt a lot that new technology will ALWAYS be exploited for evil purposes, so we have openssl and vpn and stuff like these - and that is exactly the reason why releasing this software without ANY privacy option is irresponsible.
Of course, after the Finland bigbrother stunt it is kind of contradictory to be waiting for a privacy solution released by a company like Nokia. Finally, we need more democratic control over companies and their products that have a big impact to our lives!
This update is really good
