It’s good to be back with the Beta Labs community, and I’m happy to bring you the prerelease client of Nokia Messaging for S60 5.0 devices. When we released the 1.1 version of Nokia Messaging, we announced support for the Xpress Music 5800 was coming in May. That remains true, but we’re here today because we wanted to get this client out to you as quickly as possible so you could give us feedback and get the most out of your 5800. It’s an all-new client that we’re proud of. It delivers all the great features you’re know from Nokia Messaging, including Push email delivery, IMAP subfolders and mobilizing up to ten mailboxes including Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo! and Gmail.
Some of the highlights specific to the S60 5.0 client:
- Even easier program navigation with support for ‘tap & hold’ contextual functionality
- The client is completely fingertip-operated, no stylus required
- Functions both in landscape and portrait views
- Message previews in the inbox view
- Displays address book contact photos in messages
As this is a prelease you must pay careful attention to the installation instructions. We are putting this client out to begin to gather feedback for the next version of the S60 5.0 client: don’t expect changes between this client and the final release for everyone in May. We are a feedback-driven service and your insight is important to us. Please feel free to write comments on this post, in the discussion forums, and follow Nokia Messaging on Twitter.
Thanks for your feedback!
