Nokia Photo Browser updated - with usability, quality, and functionality improvements

Written by: Naoto Kaneko, Nokia Photo Browser team

Hello Beta Labs users!

Thank you for your warm support so far.  Based on your response in the forum, we've made the following updates:

  • Better zoom image quality -- needs a few seconds to load the sharper image
  • Menu -- long press in the grid view to bring it up
  • Folder sorting in the grid view -- accessible from the menu
  • Send function -- accessible from the menu
  • Image rotation and deletion -- accessible from the menu
  • Better rendering and image processing speed in general

Another learning we have made is that the touch UI seems to be offering much better user experience than that of non-touch UI.  In future releases, we will focus mostly on the touch devices.  And your input will be well appreciated there.

Nokia Photo Browser is committed for the simple joy of going through personal photos.  Enjoy your photo browsing!

Hi,
New version speed is good and best thing is the sorting, id still like to see a more integrated menu button on the touch flow screen rather than it being hidden but its ok.

However one thing that has not been looked at, possibly not even though about for this app or any other app is the "Default Application" option in Application Settings. Why can i have photo browser as the default app that views pictures, likewise, why can i make my default internert browser Opera instead of Web, the option change is there but you can only pick native S60 apps, kinda pointlless having this option.

Like to know your toughts.

Cheers

Colm

Huge improvement in quality from prev version, i might start using this more often. However Resco Photo viewer still seems better quality wise and depth of zoom as well.

Tho ofcourse i am using N82, and from what is mentioned, Touch version will be the main focus and that the version is better than what i am using.

I would also love to see the old image viewer app all out replaced by this one when it graduates, perhaps with firmware update or some thing.

hands down, this is my FAVORITE app on my e71... The only things I use more than this are the camera and nokia maps!!

Thank you for the update!

Also, PLEASE dont focus mainly on touch devices... us NON-touch users also LOVE the application... it was a design flaw to not make it intuitive for regular phones, and as a result, its inherently not as intuitive... because as simple as it is, it still requires TRAINING to use the application!

Very nice, thank you for this app!

What more I would like to see are;
- slideshow
- ability to increase/decrease magnifying class zoom
- support for ALL orientations (0 deg, 90 deg, 180deg and 270 deg)
- ability to "next/previous" list of images in fullscreen display mode
- that bug worked out that hangs it if 5800's express button/media quick list is pressed :)

Cheers!

I got a Nokia 5800 XM

The application works smother and faster. The menu is better accesibe now. I have a big gallery of 600+ images and these is the only application with which I can navigate to a desired image in less than 30 sec!!! With the default browser it takes me ages to scrole to a desired picture :(

Excelent job!
