Good news from the Ovi Maps team - we've updated maps.ovi.com and packed in heaps of bug fixes. Most of all, we have worked hard on improving the Ovi Maps experience on Safari for Macintosh, and we have also added plugin support for Firefox 3.5.
We have also added support for 4 additional languages! You can now view Ovi Maps in Spanish, French, German or Italian. More languages will be coming online over the next months.
Head over to maps.ovi.com and check out the improvements. If you've already got a plugin installed, you will be prompted to download and install a new one.
Thanks to all our Beta Labs users who have sent us feedback over the past months, especially the users who helped us out testing our early versions of the Safari plugin. Your feedback has been fantastic!
Cheers
Will - Ovi Maps team
Like the feel of the updated site and the compatability with Firefox 3.5, but still frustrated with the Satellite Map detail level. This is still very lacking when compared with the competitiion. Hopefully this will be improved in the near future as I assume this is not a Site Update requirement, but just an addition to the satellite views database on the servers.

Hi, when i try to access the new maps.ovi.com my virus scanner (eset nod32) reports the following:

Hey,
I use Firefox 3.5.2 on OS X, and I still can't use Ovi Maps. What to do now? It's not a big problem but still, my main browser is Firefox (and I didn't have to install a new plugin for Safari either).
It appears not to work on Ubuntu neither...
I want to use ovi maps, I really need to. But I'm using linux and it says that it's not supported. I need to plan my trips in my computer to send them to my phone, and I can't do that with ovi. So I still have to use google maps.

happy to use ovi maps again now that it supports firefox 3.5. @magick no virus warrning from avast and no other warrnings from spybot or comodo. What viruskiller did you say you used?

Thank you for updating. Now the plugin installs on IE8 and I am able to use the 3D map etc.
Best regards,

@magick: We will investigate the virus warning, but from the way these images are generated, I very much expect this to be a false alarm.

I cannot use routing at all on Safari 4.0.3, OS X 10.4.11
