Hello,
The Nokia Messaging team is pleased to announce version 2.0 of the IM Beta! We’re adding support for the E71 and E63 devices as well as support for the Google Talk community. Nokia Messaging offers a desktop-like IM experience on your Nokia device. You can stay in contact with your friends across multiple communities, easily switch between and save conversations and login invisibly. We continue to add support for more devices and communities in all parts of Nokia Messaging. We welcome your feedback in the discussion forums here on BetaLabs.
Thanks, The Nokia Messaging team
Hello, great work in adding additional support options and IM services, but there are still a few additional services that are not there and would increase the usefulness to many of us who use these services if it would be there. Could you please add AIM, MSN, and a jabber type client? Once you do, you'll have a fully featured, OS embedded program that would turn a lot more people onto the idea of using their phones as IM clients.
Most people today are not aware that they can purchase third party type IM programs to achieve this end, and they either skip on the phone purchase, or miss out on a great experience. By offering these capabilities and giving the consumers the wide range of choices that they'd need, you'd be filling a service that desperately needs to be filled.
Thanks!
I've installed the E71 version on my E71-2 (RM-357, firmware: 300.21.012 ) and when I try to start it I received an error like: "java.lang.NullPointerException: 0=2"

aside from notification with sound, I think it's a good idea to have a small pop up or blinking icon for incoming messages . it's good when i work on other apps in silent mode.
Keep up the good work
I can't input *, nor # in E71 in the password field for password.
Thank you
Hi E61i is not supporting IM Beta
and also pls add MSN and AOL are the most widely used IM,s in most countries.
sadly since Feb 6 2008 still there is no software update for this E61i phone lot of features are missing.
now iam useing http://www.nimbuzz.com/en/ to access gtalk-Msn and yahoo messenger in E61i.
hope nokia can enhance this device features.
Works OK on my E71. I cant use the chr key to put an _ (underscore) into my user name. I cant cut and paste it either. Are you going to add Skype messaging? - my favourite!
I installed in my E71 and it's great! I configured two gmail accounts, 1 yahoo account and 1 Ovi account. All of them work fine!
What about a partnership with Fring to make it compatible with Ovi Accounts ? Would make a lot of devices compatible with Ovi Messaging, as Fring is far more used than Nokia Messaging Beta. And Fring already works with all major providers (Skype, MSN, Gtalk...).
would be nice to be able to select the notification sound from the phones memory or memory card and and cannot stress the importance of having some type of visual notification on the standby screen. I have the E71 and currently use slick but recently slick has become outdated and messages from yahoo admin are flooding me and keeps disconnecting...up until recently, slick had everything in an IM prgm that I was looking for...hope they fix it or you can make this program with those options. thanks.
Great , I've been waiting for this for a while since I'm a E63 user
I find that the IM features overlap. There are other small differences, but yet Ovi contacts can't sign into gtalk, or yahoo?
Most off new software from Nokia doesn't works. Why ? AT&T policy ?
I had the same problem, I didn't download both files. You have to download both files into the same directory and install the app. Works fine.
I thought you'll add seamless support of other jabber communities to built in "native" chat/jabber app called OVI Contacts iirc .....
And instead you are making yourself proud of this tiny little java app ? why not I continue to use nimbuzz or fring kind applications instead ?
Sorry but my total excitement went to waste after I downloaded this new app, what a waste !
