A holiday discount to create your own mobile discovery experience with Nokia Point & Find

Written by Sophie-Charlotte Moatti, P&F team

Greetings all,

Last month, I mentioned that we were working on features to make it easier to create and publish experiences, or worlds as we call them. Here we go.

Firstly, we’ve published our P&F client in Ovi Store. It’s available globally from this channel on most Nokia smart phones (S60), thanks to the feedback from suyog and other contributors who asked us to work more closely with Ovi and make it easy to use P&F outside of the US and UK.

We’ve also streamlined the registration and subscription to our web-based tool, which allows you to create and publish custom P&F worlds. In three steps, you can now get your own world via the Nokia Point & Find Management Portal. Those of you like snowy who were interested to try it had asked that we give a subscription discount, and for the holiday season, we’re happy to offer a special discount to the Beta Labs community. You can subscribe now for $1 per day for 1 month (i.e. $31 instead of $69+) and…

  • Secure a user-friendly name for your world (we’ve opened a brand new name space, so it should be much easier than purchasing a user-friendly URL)
  • Publish an unlimited amount of geo-tagged visual and directory content – click here to find out how
  •  Share your world: after you friends, colleagues, or customers have downloaded P&F from the Ovi Store, they can download your world by typing its name from the “Add/Remove world” screen.

We look forward to your feedback on the Management Portal; please continue to contribute to our forum and rate your experience. In my next post, I hope to announce new and innovative location-based features.

Happy holidays,
-Sophie-Charlotte Moatti and the P&F team

If You Want Impact - you need to let users share their own experience as good as for free, at least now in the start face...Forsquare just released their API for third parties - and if you take a look at the most used social networking, augmented reality, micro-blogging, search, location sharing services - they all have a free or as good as free or open API platform for developers and a free service for the end users.... I also made this point about APIs on a general basis (not relating to point & find) when I first joined Betalabs a year ago.

If You Had Said 5 dollar for december and first week of January - I would still be typing this, only I would be taking the offer :)

My point is again same, why you are releasing apps/services without OVI integration. I just hate having to register with so many different services again and again.

Also I get confused with overlapping services portfolio, I think you can have OVI Maps Good things combined with P&F.

Suyog

just saw this post and thought nokia may had already recalled they have a device called 5800 out there... but it looks it is already on its end-of-support days just as the n95-3 was less than 1 year since it was released (and the n95-1 was still being supported)

N95-3 / 0551733 / FW 20.2.011

I still thik this needs two types of world. A Business/Corporate world, which is paid for and a more limited User World which is free.

This would expand Point & Finds user group much faster.

Hi speedgrapher,
Thanks for your comment, and please be assured that we are working on a version of P&F that will support the 5800 XpressMusic. I will publish a post on this forum when it is available.
We appreciate your patience and look forward for your feedback then.
Cheers,
SC

I agree with mbrett, make a free version with capability to upload user content and geo-tagged photos. Premium accounts for Businesses get additional features such as official price, official website, etc.

Free users should still be able to upload content though.

Keep up the great work.

There's a tag line for the promotion of a non-commercial version/spin-off of the commersial "paid for" service.

You could then entice people to share their world.

Hello all,

I just wanted to acknowledge the good feedback on P&F in the last few days. Thanks all! It seems that all our work on the P&F client is starting to materialize into improvements that make your experience noticeably better... :) Please continue to share your feedback on this forum.

And maybe some of the daring contributors from BetaLabs will want to try and create their own World using the Management Portal. Our promotional offer is valid until the end of the year: http://pointandfind.nokia.com/publishers/offer/BSCVHZS.

We have more news coming in the new year and in the mean time, enjoy the winter break everyone!

Cheers,
