Written by Risto Ylivainio, Gig Finder Product Manager

Hi all

I am pleased to present our Gig Finder application for you to try. Our target was to connect users to live music events and think we have created a remarkable new experience. I hope you like it as much I do.

Gig Finder lets you search for concerts / live music entertainment, purchase tickets directly from your mobile, and get relevant recommendations based on your music tastes and location (Location relevance currently available for USA, Canada, UK & Ireland).

Key features:

  • Easy Search. Quickly find where to find the best concerts & other music events near you. Search by artist, genre, city, venue, specific date, date range or a combination of any.
  • Buy Tickets. Direct links connect your mobile to various ticket vendors to conveniently find the best seats & prices.
  • Smart Recommendations. Get recommendations for live events and venues based on your music tastes (profile & on device music library) and location.
  • Get Directions. See where the event is and how to get there with a direct link from Maps. * Start the Buzz. Share information about the gig to Facebook, SMS, or Email.
  • Download Music. Events link directly to the artist pages in Nokia Music Store / Ovi Music (when available in your country) so you can preview or download music before or after seeing your favourite artists live.

We will continue to improve and develop the Gig Finder experience in other ways, such as working with our server to make the recommendations ever more relevant to your tastes.  Also note that the recommendations will improve and become more focused the more you use Gig Recommender and add favourite artists to your profile.  Your feedback is in very welcome to help us make this an app you will want to continue to use to get you closer to the music and artists you love.

Enjoy,

Risto, Gig Finder Product Manager

App is awesome and so is also the UI. Now if we could get same work going on to other apps, like Nokia Messaging for Social Networks...

It looks great! Really close to what was shown at Capital Market Day. Location relevance was surprisingly accurate, making me wonder how it's done. It can't be skyhook right?

On the app itself, everything is great, I'd only like the ability to disable vibra feedback. Or is it a limitation of what you're coding it on? (looks like WRT to me)

It appears that Nokia has forgotten non touch screen phone and that is why all new beta products for touch screen phones. Bad practice. Non touch phones are also manufactured by Nokia and all of them are not cheap. Are they?

My life consists of small things. Sometimes it seems that they are not important, but it is not. Look at Paul Smith accessories and you’ll see how elegant can be little things around you. People at the subconscious level to notice them and appreciate their style. And this is necessarily reflected in the opinion of you.

No wonder Paul Smith is one of the most popular UK designers. This is because it has for many years does not alter the classical style (Paul Smith accessories is such). And the ability to maintain its unique style has always been highly valued in art. This is especially true of fashion.
