Ovi Contacts for web (beta) gets a new back end and a small facelift
Fri, 2010-03-12 22:39Greetings from California!
We rebuilt the backend of Ovi Contacts web UI to enable the use of contacts across Ovi services. We also did some minor UI changes, but most of the work has been done behind the curtains. The starting page for the new users changed to make the first use easier. Also, contact and group creation UI has been improved for better usability.
To check out this beta version, go to http://contactsui.ovi.com. Note that this beta uses production data, so if you're using Ovi Contacts for web, your contacts will sync concurrently. Also, you can already see how using contacts across services works with Ovi Mail, the first service to use the same backend. When you log in to Ovi Mail, select ’Address book’ to see all your Ovi Contacts there.
Once you try it out please let us know what you think here at Nokia Beta Labs.
Best,
Anne – Product Manager, Ovi Contacts WebUI

Greetings back from the bay area. I like the new add new contact tab on the upper left side. Nice quick and enough info info for contact for an easy add.
Just been on to sync and check out the New OVI Contacts Web.
Noted a few issues:
1) All of my contacts were gone other than those from OVI Mail. A quick Sync from my phone sorted this, but thought I should mention.
2) There is still the issue in Contacts that if you have a contact which has no name, but a Company Name attached because it is a company and not a person OVI Contacts Web displays lists the name as Anonimous. It is however listed correctly on the phone which I synced from as the N97 addressbook aas with all others lists contacts with only company name under the company name.
Other than that looking good.

Warsaw say hello ;-)
Nice software , easy to use, really help me better organize my contacts register, nobody need RFM ;-)for it ;-)
Hi Guys,
Getting better all the time although I have that "Can't get device Info" issue sometimes, then retry geyts it.
Havn't pinned it down but it seems the first time you go in it doesn't diplay any contacts, "show all" is green and clicking on it does nothing, select a letter or change tabs and there they are.
Also noticed clicking an email address on one of the contacts opens a new email in Outlook.
Be nice if it got Groups from the phone.
Jeff.
Thank you for all the comments! These have been super helpful for us. We've specially noted some sync issues during our beta, but we're working to fix things before launch.
