Ovi Contacts 1.5 updated

Following the feedback from the Beta Labs community, we’ve made some tweaks to the Ovi Contacts 1.5 client. The new release of Ovi Contacts 1.5 is available for S60 5th Edition products, and it includes the following improvements:
- Pop-up note for incoming chat messages
- Additional file types for file sharing: contact card & presentation
Check out the latest version, and please keep us posted on what you think.
At the same time, I’d like to introduce a couple of new team members to our Ovi Contacts crew: Anni Goman has joined the product management team, and Markku Säilynkangas keeps himself busy with beta testing. You will be hearing from both of them going forward.

Great stuff - should this appear in the Software Update app on my N97, or do I need to install it separately?
Also, it's incredibly confusing with you guys now calling this Ovi Contacts, as well as the online backup Ovi Contacts. Shouldn't this be Ovi Chat still?

Should indeed be Ovi Chat, not Ovi Contacts. VERY confusing.
And in the end, who the heck uses this service?
Nokia is Finnish, Im Finnish, nobody uses Ovi Contacts here in Finland, only MSN Live.
I actually take back my previous comment, after installing the updated version on my 5800, I fail to see the point in getting the pop up note if the notification light is not going to flash when my phone is locked...so I can't tell if I've got a new message unless I unlock my phone...totally stupid

this isnt quite an update but at least is something, maybe the developers took some vacations and somehow come back to say hi!.. I think that the progress of this very important app is very slowwwwwww! come on people of Nokia you can do better than that! and please, PLEASE take the other symbian s60 devices in consideration too!

I own a Nokia e63. I really need to knw as to when im gonna be able to use d 1.5 version.
Also y is the development process so slow. Blackberry and Iphone are eating into the Nokia market share here in India. Nyways hope Nokia improves on their speed.

Also one more thing.. i kinda get the feeling that all new stuff is developed keeping in mind only the new S60 V5 edition phones.
We s60v3 version phone users feel neglected. Please try to provide evrything to the previous version phones

The new notification is nice, but would still love polling to be added as is used in Nokia Messaging E-mail so that users can be offline to save battery power, but have the app pole the server to check for new posts at an interval chosen by the user.
Also a push IM would be interesting such that the user gets a push message when offline to tell them that someone wants to start a chat with them.

Can't install the application on my N97, error message is 'unsupported file type'. I find this strange because it is a .sisx file and I have installed lots of these file types in the past without any problems. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?
is there any chance of a cross border agreement? I have the same problem as other users, i don't know anybody using it. All other chats now accept other platforms. I would love to support nokia in every way i can, but i can't chat to myself! :-)
i hate when there are updates only for some products and not for all the products.. when will this be up for s60v3?
This would be useful to me if I could use it to connect to other clients like you can with other messenger clients. I like to support as many Nokia products as possible but in this case I have no use for it, shame because I like the idea of having something like this linked to my contacts on the phone.

hey ....u have to say that your team is working hard for upgrade this community.... I would like to save the conversations with my contacts, and send voice notes, a posiblity to send a photo and the option to take the picture and send it...thx a lot

wish my contact worked. Last update for s60v3.2 wont open even though my device is in the supported list.. Cant get back previous version which worked. I actually had people to chat with on there. Sad sad. I also went as far as hard reset on my phone to try to see if it would install. No luck.
Indeed, it doesn't seem right to see updates for the newer versions alone. Don't we, 3rd edition owners, mean that much to you?

I like the notifications but it would be nice to see the notification light to blink when a chat message is comming..
I cannot send any kind of files from my 5800, just chat, smilies, and my position.. I don't know if it's because í'm only trying with v3.1 and they don't have that option.. i know you say that you have in mind future phones but if you're still selling v3 phones like the e71 you should keep supporting them and pair the versions of your applications, and I (as most of the people in here) think that ovi contacts, ovi maps and nokia messaging are most important and attractive apps you have, maps and messaging are now paired for both v3 and v5 devices but ovi contancs for v3.1 is far behind on 1.09 .. don't let yourserf loose users because of letting previus versions behind...

well, my nokia is e63. i've download it but i can't install it coz it said not supported. what should i do? my symbian is s60 3rd edition, does it affect?
i can't install ovi contacts in my nokia e51...is this app only for s60 5th edition?
