Introducing Ovi Calendar 1.6 Beta – help us make it better

Hey there,

If you’re anything like me, you don’t keep a calendar anymore – you keep a couple of calendars, maybe a whole bunch of calendars.  I know I’ve got a personal calendar, a work calendar, a calendar for birthdays and calendars to keep track of all my favorite sports teams.

Well, it’s time we made an important update to the Ovi Calendar service to support multiple calendars, for those of us with a lot going on and a lot that we want to do.

What’s more, in Ovi Calendar 1.6 Beta, we’ve also added the ability to share specific calendars along with any related notes and to-do lists.  So now you can set up a calendar for your family, your sports team, or just your closest group of friends and know that everyone’s always going to be on the same page.
Now, we’ve decided to start small.  So for now, the beta release of Calendar with multiple calendars and sharing is available only on the web.  We do support mobile browsing, though, and you’ll be able to use Ovi Calendar 1.6 Beta with all your existing Ovi Calendar data.

Due to a known performance issue, the changes you make in Ovi Calendar 1.6 Beta may not appear immediately in your existing Ovi Calendar or when syncing with your device, but we’ve identified the problem and are working hard to fix it.
Aside from that, when you’ve had a chance to try out Ovi Calendar 1.6 Beta, we’d love to hear what you think.  Tell us what you’d like to see added or improved, what you like about Calendar and even what you hate.  We’re here on Nokia Beta Labs because we want to hear about anything you can tell us that will help us make Calendar a better service for everyone in the end.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Evan (on behalf of the Calendar team)

Looks good.

Looks very good, faster than previous Ovi calendar, and even more user friendly.
Like the way the window is organised, nice job.
Sadly, still no N900 integration. Wish I had a chance to save my calendar online, and sync them like I used to do with my previous Nokia.

Great add-on to Ovi Calenders, Much needed!

I agree with "rosso.giancarlo": faster but still no integration with N900. :-(

thank you thank you thank you for listening, it was about time and very welcome indeed, keep up the good work

Hi
Nice effort, but i personally use google calendar and for now, neither nokia nor google propose a good way to sync multi calendars on my nokia.
I'm not interested by nokia trying to reproduce 3rd party success, i would greatly prefer nokia to integrate them !

Love it,like the way its been organized, much needed,Hope to see it work well with mobile sync.

looks great!

Hmm cool but I can't make it sync. It just syncs with the old ovi calendar

sync for google calander

nice update!!!
pls integrate it with the current ovi calendar page.. its not possible to always hit the 1.6 ovi calender beta url.. instead a link to try 1.6 beta should be there on the ovi calendar page n people should have the option to set 1.6 release as default for next time or to revert back the original release..

What I miss most, is CalDAV. Now, that Symbian^3 will also support CalDAV this is a chance to get rid of the proprietary calendar sync. And I could use my Ovi calendar from Thunderbird/Lightning

Do not show old entries button and a Finnish translation?

hej there!
for me it's a real alternative solution. like the style and the way how to use it.
i would like to add external calendars, especially ical-format.
thx for the support.

Greetings

Little buggy at Opera 10.53.

So happy!! A much desired addition to OVI calendar!
I understand it cannot be easily backported to all existing symbian firmwares, but please integrate multiple calendars natively in the next symbian phones (and not just in maemo/meego).
For existing phones, a symbian app for accessing the calendar while offline would be great!
Meanwhile, I would also welcome a mobile web site, optimized for small screens.

hi
thank you

well, to be honest, the whole Ovi thing is disappointing, apart from the ovi store. because even though i can get my other calenders into ovi calender, they only get added in "agenda", which i can't get into my 5530XMusic's Calender. i think PC Suite is a lot more efficient than Ovi Suite.
