Ovi Maps for mobile (3.04) graduates from Nokia Beta Labs

Hi all,

We are pleased to announce that Ovi Maps for mobile (3.04) has graduated from Nokia Beta Labs! Many thanks for your feedback over the last few weeks – these are extremely valuable to help us in creating the best maps experience.

We do go through ever single posting and try where possible to implement some of your suggestions.  In addition, one of the important areas we have been focusing on is the engagement/communication between you and the product development teams. I know there are still areas of improvement, but I hope this has been a good progress so far :-)

For more information see the Ovi Blog post New Ovi Maps: Faster. Better. Personal. or check out the video:

Please go ahead and download the graduated version of Ovi Maps from nokia.com/maps, Ovi Store or from your mobile via nokia.mobi/maps & Software Update.  At this point all feedback/support requests should go through customer service.

Many thanks

Kee

So... any news when will this be available for E75?

Hi,
is it possible to hear the voice using Blue&Me (FIAT)?
Version 3.03 is not working and no make sense to have a navigator with no voice.

Thanks in advance for your help

Maurizio

I have this same problem with blue&me (fiat/alfa romeo) system. Only telephon calls I can listen through the car's speakers. Probably this system is dedicaded for windows mobile.

Please, this time leave on forum (or move to the new one, which probably will be launched for new beta) all the posts, that are still valid (that is, which were not taken into account or implemented). I don't want (and I won't do!) to write for the n-th (for example: the route overview screen which doesn't allow to zoom/move into any particular point of the map to check for better road/obstacle or sightseeing) ;)

Hello, when this application will be aviable for free for the N95.

Does that mean why might see it for the N900?

Hi Kee,
Is there any different between this commercial release and the beta april 16th version on X6 ?
Or is it the same version ?

Is there a way one can search and navigate to the address from the contacts list (address book) in the phone? I have tried all possible combinations but it doesn't seem possible.

Phone is E71 with the latest maps.

Any news on when we might see a maps update for the N900. This really is somewhat overdue now.

Despite being widely reported that this is available for the E71 it is NOT! Grrr.

Hey, I have a suggestion (I don't know where I should post it), but the thing is, the maps of Venezuela and others latinoamericans countries are really simples, basically it have just a few main streets, here in Venezuela (and in other countries like Argentina) are projects made in GNU to map the country, such www.proyectomapear.com.ar (maps of Argentina in a Garmin format) or http://www.gpsyv.net/ (maps of Venezuela in a Garmin format), is there any way to incorporate those maps to the Ovi maps??? can you speak with the administrator of that projects to use theirs map in Ovi maps? I happily will download the 300MB of these maps to my phone, because those maps are plenty of information.

"Despite being widely reported that this is available for the E71 it is NOT! Grrr."

It is and I am using it everyday.

Update version isn't showing in Software Update for N97, so downloaded the N97 mini. Hoping the version is the same, or similar enough. Worked previously.

Also checked OVI Store and OVI Maps doesn't even appear for the N97.

OVI Maps site just tells you to download via Software Update if you have an N97.

@rahul2002: AMWebby is right. 3.04 is _not_ available for the E71, the only version updates, ovi and maps gives is still 3.03

is there a way to update the maps over-the-air? i mean, without the map loader pc application?

@danielgleon

you can always keep connected while using maps, then the missing maps will be donwnloaded on demand, but ymmv :)

WHat about for E71??? Any plans for it?

Working well on nokia 5800xm ..thanks for the update..

Could someone at Nokia kick Telstra and ask them to upgrade the firmware? The haven't implemented any of the previous firmware updates since they released the phone.
* I am dreaming I know *

What would be really good is if Nokia could separate the Operator branding part of the firmware, and the core phone firmware so that updates like this could be done as soon as Nokia releases them.

Nokia 6720 classic

Why the GPS signal bar is missing after the update? Anyone encountered that?

Also unable to detect my position after the update. It take forever to search for GPS signal.

Thanks.

I was very sad when i found out that the fm-transmitter + voice guidance bug is still there!

People used to think my phone was so amazing, sending voice nav instructions through my car stereo. Now it's totally unsuable. Such a shame :(

Guys I have discovered a major lacking feature in Ovi Maps... if you have lat, long coordinates from a place you can not use it to drive to, walk to... is not a way to point to that point using search feature... :(

@lhooipg bar was replaced... is not longer there, we don't need it cause the blinking point and the colorize feature of itself suggest you what is happening with the signal

Hi @warmth,

Thanks for the reply. Another question is I noticed there is a new position method "Wifi/NetWork". If I disable it, will it affect the GPS locking? And does it cost any cent if enable it?

Thanks.

Where is for E75 E75 E75 E75 E75 E75 E75 E75 E75 ?????

Not available for E66 :-( (although 3.03 is).

Guys, the new version still has the wifi positioning issue, at least with my Nokia N97 Mini. If it is turned on, then OVI Maps crashes (alternatively the phone reboots itself within seconds).

To avoid this go to Settings -> Phone settings -> App. settings -> Positioning -> Positioning settings

There you can uncheck wifi positioning.

Shame on Nokia, that even in this release they have not found out how to avoid this error. GRRRR!

Hi all,
Thanks for your comments.

@efion - Yes, there is a difference. The commercial is a later build.

@AMWebby, agmx1 & Fonero - Although this version (3.04) is not available for the E71/E66, you can download the 3.03 (Also free navigation) from Ovi Store, nokia.com/maps or via your phone via nokia.mobi/maps

@chemy - Yes, the maps in Latin American are limited at the moment, but we are working to improve these!

@lhooipg - We have removed the GPS indicator in this release. Please have a look at a previous blog post about positioning https://betalabs.nokia.com/blog/2010/03/19/ovi-maps-for-mobile-updated-a...

Thanks,

Kee

Not available in Romania for N97 RM-505.In SW updater it is V3.03
:(
And i cannot find anywhere to download not even in ovi store

To cristini.veteanu :
you can download the v3.04(165) version for N97Mini. It works.
For N97Classic, it will show in SW update application in the next following days (or weeks) just like it happened for v3.03 in last January.

o.k. Thanks it worked

Hi @Kee,

Thanks for the reply.

I have gone through the blog post and one of the sentence mentioned "The GPS position is indicated with a red dot and the map zooms in to a certain zoom level to provide a good overview"

But mine don't have the so call red dot on the maps...any ideal what wrong?

And one more than, after the update when I go to Option -> Support -> Feedback, the wording was in chinese, how come?
Thanks.

Does the map orientation actually follow you now when just in drive mode on phones without a built in compass? This was a major issue when it was removed in 3.03.

No. Its still always in north direction. I also waited 4 month for a change and was disappointed. Nokia 5800 31.0.101

can you add to next firmware? change ovi maps 3.03 to the latest ovi maps when updating or integrate to firmware.

one big problem with Ovi Maps 3.0.. is that you can't look up an address like you used to before. It was much better before, you chose country, city, street and nr and each time it suggested you the name if you didnt know the correct spelling of the city or street name. Now you can't do that anymore and it's really really annoying searching for an address. Also, the default screen on Ovi Maps is now the Menu screen, that is also quite annoying. Default screen was before the map with the location you were in, that was a much better solution.

Please Betalabs, consider this at your next update because Nokia needs to get these logical things straightened out if it wants to compete with Apple/Google.

Another great solution would be if you could see in the map your friends on facebook where they are and be able to chat with them right on the map, now that would be the greatest invention since facebook :P

@lav1daloca:
"Another great solution would be if you could see in the map your friends on facebook where they are and be able to chat with them right on the map, now that would be the greatest invention since facebook"

You need to go to the Socially's website and download v1.4 as this shows you location based searches in OVI Maps for twitter and facebook I think. OVI Store version was last version last time I checked.

You can do an address search the old way, but you need to start off by adding a local point to a route rather than selecting "drive to" or "walk to" you can then add the next route point via address and in the address menu you can even select from contacts again via the options menu.

Sorry to ask again but it hasn't been answered:

Is there a way one can search and navigate to the address from the contacts list (address book) in the phone? I have tried all possible combinations but it doesn't seem possible.

Seems like things are getting worse at Nokia, not only has things went quiet of late, but i have found a bug in this latest build of Ovi Maps.

When trying to exit the App it crashes my 5800 without any specific reason, it then reboots itself, shame there is no error reporting.

There is no way on earth that this app should have graduated without all of the kinks being found and fixed before release.

So it's available for the E series running 3.2...but not the N96?!? C'mon guys! :)

"I was very sad when i found out that the fm-transmitter + voice guidance bug is still there!"

Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear. I can't believe it. I am now very sad. This speaks a fair bit, I think, to Nokia's internal development priorities as well as bug triage and fixing.
Seriously, I can't explain enough. This should be show stopper. Prime market would be professional drivers who'd use this functionality and thus their customers would see the functionality of the entire device, app and hardware. I still can't understand how the bug vanished in one beta build pre-3.03, and reappears after 3.03 comes out (well, I can, but what I don't get is the bug staying around for so long after....). Or maybe there's something in the firmware stopping this from happening? GAH!

I understand that you want to make the whole Indicator-Thing easier, but i would like to decide for myself if i want to use the "GPS indicator bar" or the new method. For me the "GPS indicator bar" was better by far, because you could tell how good your satellite-fix is. Especially when you use the same icon for GPS positioning and Wifi positioning.

Thanks Kee,
If you guys have X6, check the Software Update app, the new OM automatically appear in Software Update, there's some upgrade and notice the version, 3.04 (146) - beta version to 3.04 (165).
Have installed.

@rahul2002: If you look at post #35 (the one before your post #36) you will see that you question has been answered as best it can be at present. There is currently no way to go to Maps from Contacts, but you can search from Contacts from OVI Maps as described in post #35. It's not the most direct route, but it works.

We are hoping that this will added to the "Set Destination" or "Search" menu. I would love the free search field to check the Contacts app as "Add to Route" > "Address" > "Options" > "Select From Contacts" proves that OVI Maps integrates with Contacts. Wouldn't it be nice if when you type a cotacts name or company in the OVI Maps free seaarch they would appear as a result.

I updated to v3.04 from v3.03 and the satellite icon stays on permanently after exiting maps which causes big battery drain in my n86 sw v20.006 nam.
this question to beta labs ( any solutions ?) . thanks

I don't understand, why a new version release it should be better than the previous one BUT not in this case (Ovi Maps 3.04).

Been reading alot of feedback and complaint about this new version of Ovi maps and I have one to add in as well.

I found out the new feature of the positioning method (Wifi/Network), actually did cost you money. If you don't have Wifi when you launch your Ovi maps, it will use your network. And the network it mention here is your telco network like GPRS or 3G. I tested yesterday night today when I checked my bill, it charged me. What a sad thing here.

So just now I disable the Wifi/Network positioning method, it did not charge me for locking my position.

Disappointed for me....

Have ovi maps 3.04 installed on my 5800XM no problems, when i use the program it sometimes forgets or doesnt attempt to check my position via GPRS. Otherwise great software. A great idea to bring to ovi maps would in trying to make us all greener drivers (better) by having the system tell you if your braking to hard, accelerating to quickly and what gear you should be in for the car that you are driving. what do think?

@warmth
it possible search a place with coordinates, but only in offline mode.

I uninstall the 3.04 and revert back to 3.03. Much more happy to use 3.03 than the latest version.

1\When navigating between cities, Ovi Maps 3.04 always fall on finding routes and even crash and system then closes all open programs(I encountered this issue when navigating from beijing - capital of P.R.China - to Tian Jing - a small city located on about 100Km southeast of Beijing. It may happen on other long distance navigation)

2\When positioning with build-in GPS module, Ovi Maps 3.04 has shown the point red when not getting position information(not the red soild circle as shown when positioning with net bases)

Works bad on e72. Can I revert it to 3.03 ?

GPS works only once. When I close application and run it again, GPS doesn't work and I need to restart my phone.

How do I get 3.03 back? How to de install 3.04? The lock is very slow now, the status bar is gone and I want to go back to 3.03. Thanks for suggestions.

Just uninstall the 3.04 & restart your phone. You will get back the 3.03 version

Menu -> Apps -> GPS -> Options - Remove

@MBrett: Thank you for the answer, I did miss answer #35.

Going forward I would suggest Nokia integrate it in the app under the Address search tab.

When I use Garmin XT, under one option, it asks me to enter the address I wish to travel to and allows me to click on contacts. This then allows me to search my contacts and navigate to it.

I am certain that I can also do the reverse i.e. when looking up a contact from the address book I am able to use an option to say 'Navigate To', the same as I do when using Call, Internet Call, Send Message etc. on the options menu within contacts.

I'm not sure about your mobile model but mine Nokia E-72 able me to "Add location -> Assign from Maps or Landmarks" for my contacts. The when you make call, you will have the option of 'Show in Maps'

Not sure whether is this that you're looking for.

Thank you.

Please put 3.04 back into the betalabs area. To me it seems that it is far from being rollout ready.

To the occasional user, it seems obvious to me that this software has not been tested on all supported platforms and all supported builds within these platforms. If the N86(all builds from V20 onwards) is supported, then this should be one of the Use Case scenarios that would be examined under test. It wouldn't have taken long to realise that the satellite icon remains in view after the app has been closed and consequently investigate and resolve this issue.
What Nokia must realise is that when software leaves Beta, it is no longer the user's responsibility to test for outstanding bugs and the software should have no show-stoppers. Poor effort.

Having same problem as tenoce above.

With WiFi positioning enabled, my phone (5800XM) crashes (reboots) instantly, when I open my Maps application.

So I turned this off and it seems to work fine.

This version shouldn't have left from beta labs yet.

yeeeha
still no updates for older device.

my E71 is left behind by its own mother. poor lovely phone.

@oz42 - I agree with you

@stirly - all software application in the worlds are like that. They will just release it and the testing will fall under the end user. That's what happening to my company ERP system.

@ivar.purre - 100% totally agree, they (Nokia) should test properly before leave the beta labs. I really don't understand & know how they conduct the testing.

Really, really bad.....

I updated Ovi Maps on my Nokia N97 and now my phone crashes and restarts everytime I start the Ovi Maps application. Is there a way to install the previous version?

Did you have the latest firmware on your N97?

Nokia forgot E75 users for maps a long long time ago. I'm one of them. When I need change my phone I won't believe in Nokia again. Do the same ;-)

i have a n97 but cannot update my ovi map to 3.4 it keeps on saying update failed.why is this help asap

Hmm, so you listen to requests? Yet still no proper address search without having to go through the process of creating a route, which in itself is not readily available via a simple menu ikon. Hence very messy trying to pre-plan a route. Also, you should try to find an address while standing on a darkened side-walk at night or when suddenly you find your self lost while driving late to an appointment. The lack of availability of a quick address search is not just inconvenient. It is potentially dangerous!

... and has still the same problem like the beta - when I open it, the E72
with latest firmware 31.023 restarts
The beta did the same on the 23.002
The solution was, as posted above to disable Wifi for location, funny, it runs wirh MapBooster

still no news about maps 3.04(or at least 3.03)for 6760=(

hi recently i updated my ovi maps to 30.4
it has good GPS connectivity about in less than half a sec
but iam not able to connect via internet.
it gives a message
connection failed
please try again.

please help me out

wifi positioning method keep internet connection online after I close map app.
It's really stupid!!

It's really easy to reproduce this bug on 5800
enable wifi positioning and start ovi maps or google maps
close app
and you will see that internet connection is still active after 5 minuts

If I disable wifi pos. everything works fine.
fix it nokia fix it!!!

N8 , what that fu.... design !

I tried install this to my N97.

First time i tried install, it started download and the started installing. Then phone says failed to update.. Then i tried install it again and everytime it says same thing that failed to update.

I tried reset firmware and try then install but it says same thing after that also..

I have N97, firmware version 21.0.102 (RM-505), Ovi Maps version 3.03 included in firmware

Hi,
I do have the same device with firmware v21.0.102, just like yours. Everything went fine for me, try a hard reset once again to free enough space on C: drive (at least 20Mb) even if v3.03 is already on D:
Regards,

Hi.
The good thing about 3.01 was that the map language was independent of phone lang. Unfortunately, in the subsequent updates, they are linked together. I wish you could add an option so we can set the map languange regardless of phone lang.

still waiting for E75 support...

@rantape I installed the new version on my N97, after facing a few issues. I had the same error and had to delete a few things from my C: drive before trying it again. I see that you reset your phone and still couldn't get it work, which is quite strange. Once I had 16 mb left on the drive, I was able to install the 3.04 version. Some people say that they uninstalled the 3.03 and then successfully installed the new version. Maybe this is something you wanna try.

FOR N79?????????????? grrrrrrrrrrrr :(

I've used 3.03 on E52 and was happy. Application was installed on the memory card. Great! Then I've updated to 3.04. That was a mistake :( I found 2 versions of application on my phone simultaneously. Nokia Maps v3.04 in internal memory and Ovi Maps v3.03 on the card. I've got a slow working device and frequent crashes due to low memory! Now I'm happy again :)) I removed 3.04 with application manager and found that 3.03 is working fine from memory card!!!
Nokia, I appreciate your job! Thanks for free navigation. And still waiting for official release with possibility to run maps from external memory card.

Hi. Does anyone have an issue with installation failure on Nokia E52? I've got this device with firmware 33.002 which includes maps version 3.03. When trying to install 3.04 I've got an error - actually the application seems to install properly, but after installation another installation is launched and displays "Unknown error: -5".

New version is displayed in application manager as installed but only old one is available in applications folder.

I cannot uninstall 3.03 before as it's included in firmware and does not appear in application manager. About free space on C: drive - it's enough, over 30 MB.

Does anyone have any suggestion where the problem is?

Thanks.

Had 3.04 on my N97 mini. Due to an unrelated fault (possibly corrupted destinations file) the phone was flashed and the firmware re-installed. After restoring phone with my old data I cannot upgrade to free navigation. During installation the process crashes with Unknown error -5

i think the inmediate previus version (3.04 beta) was more stable.
This version is crashing very often with a bigger frequency than the beta.
If you click fast on the main menu it will crash almost for sure and it seems it fails to load maps from the air after some point in 3g. I needed even to put the phone in offline and then online again (by switching the profile) cause it affected the network connection to a point of being unable to download more data.

For a future version I would like too be able to download entire maps directly from the phone withouh needing to use the map loader app.

I installed OVI Maps 3.04 in my Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic on 28th May 2010.

Two functions in the earlier version were missing in this new version.

1. GPS My location last active was not seen . There used to be a Pale Red Point to show this. Now the My location is shown only when you get the GPS Signal.

2. Searching a location using Contact Details from Address Book is not there. This is a very important function and I used this in the earlier version.

I request you to incorporate these.

Please see that when a new version is released , good fuctions in the old versions should not be deleted or made non functional.

Thanks

Hi everyone,

I'm using the newest version (3.03)of Nokia maps on my E71 and I'm really happy how it works. despite i have two little problem.

1: With an older version of nokia maps i could access the favourits i saved over google maps app for my e71. this was really helpful because it is way faster to search for some places over google maps than nokia maps (i know you can alway search over your pc and sync then, but i want it this way). The other way around it is no problem to see the favourites i saved over nokia maps on google maps. Is there a way you can implement the google maps favourites to nokia maps and then get directions over nokia maps??

2: I love the fact that nokia maps tells me what speed limit i am allowed to drive. but i havent seen a way to shut the voice up that tells me everytime i am driving too fast. I would love it when there is only visual warning (red speed instead of green). Or am I missing something??

Would be really great if you could fix this "problems"

Look at settings/navigation. You can enable/disable the warnings and moreover set the marginal. (For example to get a warning when speed limit is exeeded by 5 km/h.)

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this. But I find that the walking navigation isn't working in my town. Maybe the maps for my town (Kiruna, Sweden) are bad but the navigation doen't show or take into account the walking paths that are there so instead of a 200m walking path it wants me to walk 1,2km on the road.

I don't know if this is a problem with Ovi Maps or with the maps themselves. But I thought you should know about it.

2) Speed limit above 80 km/h

How do I set it?

Thanks.

why nokia is not considering E75 users? Nokia is always avoiding E75 in all aspects.. really fed up..

Anyone any idea about E51? (I know, I'm the only person who bought this model, but I'd like to have free navigation all the same...) I managed to get v. 3.01 (the one for E63), but no update available so far (3.03 or 3.04) works.
Thx for any help

@lhooipg: "I got the setting like this:-

Details probably depend on the phone model. On my phone (E66) if I press either "change" or "movi"-button, I get a page with a slider. Moving the slider (with "movi"-button) right or left increases or decreases the marginal. When the marginal is set to the desidered value, press "OK".

@Fonero,

Thanks for the reply, so meaning for example:

1) Speed limit below 80 km/h - If I set the marginal for this setting to
30km/h meaning?

2) Speed limit above 80km/h - If I set the marginal for this setting to
10km/h meaning

Sorry for the simple question as I new to this.

Thank you.

@lhooipg

Speed limit below 80 km/h, marginal 30 km/h: If the current speed limit is for example 60 km/h, then you will get a warning if your speed is over 60+30 km/h = 90 km/h.

Speed limit above 80 km/h, marginal 10 km/h: If the current speed limit is 100 km/h (for example), then you will get a warning if your speed is over 100+10 km/h = 110 km/h.

(I dont't remember what happens, if the speed limit is exactly 80 km/h. Try it out yourself.)

Where is missing support for N85 !!!

So, I bought my nokia n78 a year ago and there is no support for it already. Is it too old for you guys to support it? No more software updates, no more cool stuff like Facebook app, etc... At least, I was waiting for free Ovi Maps navigation... Well, 6-7 months passed (actually, I'm not really sure about the period, so let's just say it is since you announced that there will be support for 'old' models and NOT v5 only). And guess what... I'm tired of waiting now. I'm definitely getting a HTC next time ;)

@Fonero,

Thank you very much for the details explanation.

Great !
Ovi Maps is stable now!!!

Just a question: How the hell should i install it ? It is simply not possible. If i will download it over Ovi Store, i can't find it. If i change my mobile to a "mini", i can find it and able to send the sms but after than i can't download it.
What should i do ? Is this a bad joke at all ?

You guys will loose 50% or more from all N-series users as soon the next iPhone is released.
This can't be true. I owned so much nokia phones but this was my last one.
You use 4 different OS right now. Noone is willing to write apps because the work to change for all the OS is too much. The betalabs-section is almost dead. I am really bored.

Nokia N97 // Nokia N96 // Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

@alex291177 : it comes from the SW update. Menu > Apps > SW update

but it cant be choose, to be installed on phone memory , or mass memory. default installed on phone memory. eating more space on drive C. More comfortable if user can download the ovi maps installer manually
N97 v21.0.045

Will ovi maps become available on 5530XM? I currently have the 5800 version installed. I think you should make a stripped down version available.

+1 for E75 support (or for a confirmation it will never be supported there, so that we can move on).

This official version is so useless. I tried to use it serveral days, and you know what? It lost signal very often. The old beta version never lose the signal when i use it. Why does the official version happen so often!?
Also, the official version always show it's waiting for signal when i use it to navigate to somewhere after i just start the Ovi map and don't wait it to receive the signal first. No matter how long my car stops in one place to wait the N97 to try to receive the signal. I mean, if i want to use Ovi map to navigate to somewhere, i can't do anything after i start the Ovi map. I should wait N97 to receive the signal first, then i can use it.
Everything i said above, never happend in old beta version.
Can you guys give me the old beta version? The official version is really suck.... I can't understand why you can let the useless version to be the official version. Unbelievable!!!!

Hi all,
A number of you have asked about support on older devices - unfortunately these will not be available, however you can purchase licenses for older phones at €10/year (Significantly reduced)
More information can be found on the following blog: http://blog.ovi.com/2010/04/06/nokia-e71-and-e66-get-ovi-maps-with-free-...

Thanks,

Kee

Hi,
I think that Nokia should inform the users about when they are planning to support other devices of nokia phones with this application.
I have the E75.

NOKIA pojat!

WOULD YOU PLEASE MAKE OVI MAPS AVAILABLE ON OVI STORE, PRONTO?

a) you disabled my betaversion on my phone without warning - nice..
strange kind of appreciation for me helping you debug your software.

b) update via ovi impossible, because the file isnt in ovi for n97 - shit happenes?

c) update via sowftare update on phone says "failed" .. very nice error message indeed, and so helpful too.

d) this problem has been reported in this blog replies already 2 weeks ago. - koskenkorva slows reactions

e) thousands of nokia employees get sacked this year as well, and gentlemen, this is your fault as well.

The problem is not iphone, the problem is the constant chain of disappointments happening
to your most loyal customers...

ps: i do realize beta-program operators, are not the same people who run OVI, but you should
find a way to get the message across to the people whom should care.

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

On my E72 this version of Ovi Maps causes the phone to crash. I have rebuilt three times (i.e full hard reset) and reloaded (not from back-up as this does not deal with the crashing issue). This is unacceptable, how can a newer version be so faulty that it causes Ovi Maps to permenantely to fail?

Hi,
when I follow a route, i can't set alternative route *travel via*
Is very useful!!! (like Tomtom and Sygic)

when I follow a route, i can't see all map and scroll it, specially far of route

when I follow a route, i see any POI (like parking) but I have disabled all! So, why I see it?

in nokia 5800, (using a very good bluetooth antenna gps) routing have a slow frame rate, in my old nokia N70 (and same bluetooth gps) was veeeery fast!

view this video to see:

Is possible have a more good frame rate?

It can be very important the link from address contact to Ovi Maps.So if you want to drive to you contact you can select link from The contact e Ovi map can drive to you friend or local that you have in address book.

Hello everybody.
I have 2 suggestions to make to make the Nokia Maps even better.
I think it would be wonderful to restore the feature, which was present in maps 3.00, to deactivate the GPS antenna if you just want to look at the maps.
Another feature I would like to suggest is setting the current position manually. Not everybody enjoys A-GPS due to connection charges, and connecting with GPS requires some time: by setting the current position manually the route calculation takes less time.
Another cool feature I would like to suggest is to set both the arrival point and the starting point; this can be done by de-activating the search for the curren position and inputting manually the current position!
So it's a combination of the 2 suggestions I'm willing to make!

I bought a new Nokia N97 Mini with Ovi Map 3.04 installed on it. The map worked the 1st time for getting the gps lock and after that it has never worked. My position has got locked (to the 1st point) and GPS setting is not getting updated. I installed Google Map and it is working fine. SO i can conclude that GPS is fine and only problem is with OVI Map.....What might be the cause of this. I had tried reinstalling the map (and delete the Cities Folder and Qf file from the Mass Storage)with no success. Does anybody has any solution. I am using the latest firmware version 11.0.102

It's been more than a month plus since the Ovi Maps for mobile (3.04) graduates from Nokia Beta Labs, now after all those posted issues, we appreciated if the Ovi Map Team members update us what is the status now. At least we won't have to guess is the issue reported resolve or still pending.

Also we would like to know when is the next update.

Thank you.

why nokia is not considering E75 users? Nokia is always avoiding n78 in all aspects.. really fed up..

Da sempre utente nokia, rimango profondamente deluso come ancora nokia non dia gli aggiornamenti per l'e75 per quanto riguarda ovi maps se non volete deluderci fate qualcosa oggi il mercato ofre molto grazie.

bring back 3.03!!!!! 3.04 sucks, slow, no status bar 3.03 was well better!!!!!

So... any news when will this be available for N85?
Nokia N85=

when will nokia come out with a free navigation for E75

the main lack is that when you are navigating forward a position and find that the traffic stucks (because of a long cue of kmetres for example) you cannot set the navigation avoiding the next 100metres, 500 metres, etc... it is possible with all the other navigation system, BUT NOT WITH OVI MAPS!!! and it can be usefull when u have to wait 1 or 2 hours in a short/long cue... it happened to me, but with another navigation system was easy overcame all the cue...

Hi

I would like to see a means of importing waypoints (favourites, landmarks) into Maps. I seem to remember that a previous versionof Nokia Maps used the same landmarks as Google Maps, this was very useful.

I would also like to see a Nokia Marine Charts version.

I am a diver, hence these requirements.

don't know how

Bought the new N8 and you still can't search for contact's address from within Ovi Maps. Absolutely terrible that I and others asked for this feature (even as early as May 2010 in my case) and it has still not been implemented.
