Introducing Nokia Video Cuts – Find your favorite scenes with ease

We know that many of you take advantage of your large touchscreen smartphones to watch videos or movies on the go. Unlike watching DVD’s at home, however, I’m sure you’ve discovered that the current video galleries do not allow you to jump to your favorite scene or where you left off. Instead you have to start from the beginning of the video and fast forward to that scene.
Today, we are pleased to announce Nokia Video Cuts to address this specific problem. Developed by Nokia Research Center, Beijing, Nokia Video Cuts can replace your current video gallery and provide a key missing feature to make your viewing experience more convenient.
Nokia Video Cuts uses key frame extraction technology to separate a video’s key scenes, allowing you to jump from one scene to another with one simple click. The Nokia Video Cuts video gallery organizes your videos by title and also uses thumbnail images for easy searching. Full kinetic scrolling is smooth and snappy, and just like other video galleries, Nokia Video Cuts offers all the same functionality you would expect, like volume adjustment and full screen viewing.
Nokia Video Cuts is an experimental beta and we are currently evaluating how to take it further. So if you’re interested, download the application and let us know what you think.
Thanks!

Works well as far as it goes, but after initial installation, which went fine, the app started to detect my video's and then closed after a couple of minutes. When I tried to open it again, as soon as I accepted it search for new video it closes instantly, if I say no, it will open, but has only processed a few of my 42 videos with thumbnails and the rest are simply blank green icons, the videos will play but without thumbnails or any way of identifying them :( Shame because the app seems a really good idea, and the few video clips it has processed work really well without lag jumping from one thumbnail to another, unlike going ff in the standard Real player. Unfortunately if it won't work on my phone I can't use it, but hope it has it's bugs ironed out as on first impressions it would be much better than the native video browser. (N97 'Classic' being used ! )
